Carolina Mainsheet School of Sailing Captain Bill Rathbun cancelled on us twice, refused a refund and insulted my wife! New Bern North Carolina
My wife and I paid $800 and signed up for sailing lessons over a year ago with Carolina Mainsheet and when the time came to take our lesson, we received an email late the night before with a cancellation notice. We were disappointing, but understood that weather is out of everyone's control.
My wife called to reschedule, and "Captain Bill" Rathbun told her that she must reschedule online because of his "complicated financial system" he has in place. That was a little odd, but she happily agreed and hung up to attempt the rescheduling online. She then proceeded to spend the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to perform the rescheduling.
Frustrated, she called Captain Bill back and explained that she was having trouble and requested that he please reschedule us himself manually. Again, he refused and redirected her back to his website with further instructions on how to use it "correctly". We eventually got rescheduled even though the process was very counter-intuitive.
He was very condescending and insulting to her when she complained about the usability of his website and offered recommendations on how to make it easier to understand. At one point he said "f*** you" and it went down hill from there. At this point, we requested a refund and he refused, so we said "fine, we'll see you on the lake". Well, the day of our rescheduled sailing lesson came and he cancelled on us AGAIN! This time, the weather was perfectly fine.
