On Tuesday 8/29 i traded in my 2016 Chevy Malibu with a title loan of $7200 for a 2008 Mazda CX-7 with 116000 miles from CARS 2 GO in Glendale AZ. I'm financing it at $12999 for 3.5 years with monthly payments of $357. They accepted my Malibu as a trade in and they valued it at $10,000. They rolled over the balance of $2800 positive equity and used it as a down payment. I was not allowed to test drive the car because I was told it was so close to closing time, as a matter of fact RALPH WALTERS was rushing me because in his words "his wife wanted him home" !! I was only allowed to turn it on and sit in it. I was told nothing was wrong with it and that it was in perfect condition. I was also told it had a 3 month, 3,000 mile warranty if for any reason something should go wrong. I drove off the lot and before I even made it home the check engine light was on. Also the car drove very shakey and it thrusted when it was in idle.
I immediately took it back Wednesday morning (8/30) and asked if I could get a different car because I didn't like how it drives and the engine light being on scared me. I was told by Ralph the GM, I was unable to get a different car and that I was "locked in". He told me that he would send my car over to service to get checked out and assured me he would fix it. I waited up there all day and finally 5 hours later they "finished" my car. They told me it was a faulty fuse and I was good to go. I asked for a receipt or some documentation from the SERVICE MANAGER and was told they don't do that. I went home and the next day (8/31) the light came on again. I took it back up there, at this point I'm irritated because I have to keep missing work to fix the car and drive to glendale when I live in Mesa (40-50 min drive) I was up there again ALL day and was told that this time it was an old pump that they replaced. Again I was given no receipt.
Friday morning (09/01) the check engine light came on yet again so I took it to auto zone to get free diagnostics, I was told there were several misfires in the engine causing the light to come on and some pump in the car was bad. I took the print out they gave me up to the dealer and told Ralph, he brushed me off and told me to give the paper to service. Raplh told me they were just going to replace all the fuses which was going to take all day and he offered for me to take a "lender car" so I could at least go to work. He promised when I picked the car up everything would be fixed. When I got off work I returned the lender car and went into the service office. I was told by the service manager that their "may possibly be something wrong with the timing belt but nothing needed to be replaced right now but if it causes a problem in the future to bring it back". I called him out and said that's unacceptable, if they know there's a problem I want it fixed now while I'm still within my warranty. He told me there wasn't anything he can do right now because it was Friday and they were about to close. I asked him if he could make some type of note or something just in case I needed fixing so they can't tell me they had no knowledge of the problem. He told me "sure" but I honestly think he was brushing me off.
Disappointed with what I was told I immediately walked over to Ralph the GMs office and told him what service told me. His response was "well yea, any car with that amount of miles will need the timing belt changed". I asked him why he didn't fix mine if it was showing problems and they had my car ALL DAY. His answer was they were fixing something else on my car today and replacing the timing belt is an all day project. Frustrated I got my keys and left. I drove maybe 2-3 miles and AGAIN the engine light came on. I took it again to auto zone and this time I was told the oil control valve needed to be replaced and there were still misfires in the engine and the intake camshaft position timing were off. I took it back to the dealer hoping I could catch someone before closing but it was too late. I called and was told Ralph won't be in until SEPTEMBER 11th but if I want to bring the car to service on Monday the 4th I can. On the way home the car BROKE DOWN and became inoperable. It sat outside my house for a WEEK before the has their row person come get it to be serviced. Within this time they gave me 2 lender cars which broke down within 24 hrs of having them and had to be towed as well, so we have been without a car completely . I called Ralph to see if they would be lenient on my upcoming payment on the 15th because I do not feel it's right to pay for a car I have not had one day. Ralph told me my employment verification "fell through" and accused me of lying on my application. He told me he could not help me with the payment and to watch for a call from the finance department. Baffled I waited all day for a call which I still have not gotten.
2 days later I got a letter on the mail for "intent to dispose" of the vehicle. They claimed they were repossessing the vehicle because I "lied" about having a job. Needless to say, during this entire messed up situation I filed a complaint with the BBB, cars2go replied and submitted their "evidence". THEY FAXED A JOB VERIFICATION LETTER TO THE WRONG COMPANY and their so called "evidence" Was an email from the WRONG COMPANY saying "I think you have the wrong employer because ______ doesn't work here now or in the past" I'm beyond pissed. All I want is my positive equity back. The $2800 difference. They don't answer calls or emails. I have no choice but to take them to court.
