Castro Street Chevron SMOG TEST SCAM San Francisco, California
DO NOT GO HERE! I was lured by GOOGLE deal of $28 cash for Smog test. After waiting half an hour finally they test my car. Then the guy drives my car out and tells me that everything passed except for the OBDII diagnostic test. He says that his machine cannot connect to my car so I failed the test. Tells me I have electrical problems and that I need to go to a mechanic to get my car tested. I told him I didn't understand why it failed. He says he tried it 5 times and that I have to pay him. I told him I would pay card but he said that was only for full price which is $89. So on good faith I pay him. He tells me that he did work on my car so I have to pay and would not take card because he says I got a special deal. So I go to another shop, they test my OBDII and say it's absolutely fine. They can't give me a smog test because DMV says I have to go to a smog test only center. So I go drive back and I talk to the guy Mike. He says he's got 3 cars before me but that he'll try again. He tries, he says it still won't connect and again tells me I need to go to a mechanic, even though I showed him the printout that it did connect. He insists on showing me how it read another car so the problem must be my car. I told him that it was not my fault that his machine couldn't read my car and shouldn't be penalized but he just ignored me and drove my car out for me so he could help someone else. He would not refund my money and insisted on telling me it was my problem.
I left, went to another smog test only place, got my smog tests completed in ten minutes. I called Mike to let him know, and that if he didn't refund my fee, I would post a yelp review and he HUNG UP! WOW. Fair warning. Do not go here to try to save money. I ended up paying for two smog tests! I will also be calling BBB and the Automotive review! If you have a similar experience pls post, boycott, and complain about this place to BBB and Auto review: 1.800.952.5210
