My husband had financied a pick-up through Centrix. We have always been loyal to our payments and have had the loan for 3 years. I have sent a payment to them once without their stub and it had gotten placed into the wrong account, so recently I did not receive a stub from Centrix.

So, knowing that the payment would be late already, my husband calls Centrix to ask for some advice. Centrix tells him that it is okay to send a check without the stub becasue he had a grace period. Come to find out the grace period is charging a high interest rate. So, a few days later my husband receives a rude call from Centrix asking why they have not received a payment.

My husband responds by telling them there was a check on the way and that he was told that things were fine since it was a grace period. He got upset and I decided to try to get somewhere. So, I call Centrix and see if there is anything we can do to resolve this dispute. I get ahold of this lady and she tells me their stubs are courtesy stubs and not necessary and that the stub must have gotten lost in the mail.

I replied saying then my check must of gotten lost in the mail and I should not be held responsible for my payment being late. Since their courtesy stub gotten lost. Then I get a hold of another lady who is supposingly a supervisor and tells me the check was never received and wanted me to pay over the phone. I reply by telling her that would be fine but if they do receive that check it needs to be cancelled because I can not afford two payments in one month. The supervisor reassures me that it would be cancelled.

All this took place on a Friday. So, on Monday morning I get ready to look at my bank account and Centrix is processing a payment and that I would not be able to put a stop payment on that check. So, Centrix did not have my check on Friday at 6pm but some how the check got cashed by them and out of my bank account by Monday morning. Plus, the continued to debt my account for the over the phone payment. Centrix refuses to credit back the extra payment. Centrix has to be one of the most rudest company I have ever had to deal with. Unfourately, they will continue to rip off people.

First off, that was horrible what they did to you. They should refund the additional payment. I would definately speak with the supervisor that assured you the payment would not process. Sometimes we have to learn the hard way that we can't always trust companies and we have to always be a step ahead. "Prevention" can work wonders as I have done: I have been with Centrix for over 2 years now and have only had one problem to date. I make my payments via the phone ONLY, I do not mail or do not do automatic payments. I do pay an additional $7 surcharge for the use of Western Union. Yes, that's more money, but for me it is well worth it. That is coverage for MY mistakes as well as THEIR mistakes. $84 in a year is well worth the security of knowing I'm not going to overdraft and have to pay additional fees. Not to mention you are given a confirmation number at the end of the call to track your payment. A. I don't have to worry about lost mail. B. I don't have to worry about non-sufficient funds. C. If I don't have payment on the date due, I have a 5-day grace period in which I control when they receive the money. I was once the 5 days late on payment and they did NOT charge me a fee for that. Now the problem I did have was about a year ago. I didn't have my account number, so I talked to a representative and made my payment. Days later I received a call that I had not made my payment. Fortunately, I record the date, time, amount and confirmation number after every paid transaction. So I was able to provide them with the confirmation number. They researched and found the amount was credited to a different account (off by one number) and were able to reverse and apply to my account. Maybe you could talk to your bank about the situation? Clearly it will show double payment, maybe they could assist with reversing the duplicate? Anyhow, best of luck. Let us know how it works out for you.
