In January 2011 I  called CenturyLink to install internet service in Fort Myers Beach Florida.  They made an appointment to install and never showed up on the assigned date.   They never called to reschedule or offer another date. So. I called comcast and they showed up and installed the next day.  I start receiving bills for service which I ignore just as they ignored me. I evenutally call on June 26th and they say its it taken care I owe nothing. A month later I get a call from a credit collection agency and they say its in collections and CL has still not stopped the billing.

I call CL and again reiterate that I never had service with them and if they can prove anything that they showed up , connected, or that a single bit of data from my equipment was transmitted through their system they have a case for payment.  They hung up on me.

I am going send one registered letter if I get no response I lawyer up.

To put this in laymans terms -
You call a pizza joint to have a pizza delivered. After an hour your pizza hasnt shown up, you
call and ask , where's my pizza? The pizza place tells you they didnt get the order but theyll get it right out to you.  2 hours pass and no pizza. So you call another place and they deliver a better pizza in 30 minutes.  The next day the 1st pizza place sends you a bill for the pizza they never delivered.  What would you do? What does the law say you should do?

The pizza place says that since you ordered the pizza youre bound to pay for it whether they delivered it or not? You could have made a pizza at home using thier instructions.

I had specifically arranged for an install date since the there was a disconnect on the pole that comcast had to climb and remove to start my service.   Century Link  never showed up for that appointment and I received no install kit.

Was this DSL service?

If you ordered internet service and had an existing land line, Century Link may not have needed to make a visit to your house.  If they sent you filters to install and possibly a router, you can easily connect it yourself.

Did they send you an installation kit?  Did it have a letter explaining the procedures?

The work on their part is done in the telephone office, NOT your home.
