Chad Golem Golem Contruction Bad Contractor crook who doesn't pay his subcontractors or complete work Kirtland Ohio
I just wanted to warn other people and subcontractors about this guy. I have a Heating and Cooling company in northeast Ohio (Cleveland area). Chad is a contractor who does home improvements and full house rehabs (presumably - although, I have my doubts as to how many jobs he completes). I did some work for him and got paid on a couple of jobs. I should have known something was wrong when the payments were late and he always had a reason why the payment was late, but he was very convincing and seemed like he knew what he was doing.
After the initial 2 jobs were finally paid, I then was asked to do more work for him in rapid succession. I installed furnaces and some cooling units in 8 other projects he was working on, very quickly, and then the payments just stopped. He became difficult to reach and then stopped returning calls all together. Later I found out that I was not the only subcontractor that he wasn't paying and that this was a pattern with this guy. Ultimately I lost about $14,000 in work and materials,
I feel a little dumb for being taken this way. It is probably one of the oldest hustles in the book – give someone a little taste until they go all in and then just walk away with their money. He was VERY convincing as to why payments were slow, and seemed to be legitimate. It is actually scary how convincing he was, when I think about it now. One of the owners of a vacant property that I worked on for Chad later contacted me to tell me that I was just one in a very long line of subcontractors and others that he stole money from.
I just want to warn people about this guy so that they don't get taken also. There are a lot of good contractors out there to work for, and/or to hire. This guy is not one of them. He will take your money or time and just walk away.
