I first attempted to place an online order with this company for 2 HALF yard cuts of fabric, approximately 1 week ago (from today's date of 7/20/11). I'm sorry I don't remember the EXACT date.

I was having issues with their shopping cart system, as it kept putting in incorrect amounts. I was attempting to order .5 yds, and the system kept putting in 1 yd quantities. I decided to call the store via the phone number they have posted on their Web site, to let them know of my issues.

I spoke with the owner (I think it was the owner - not sure), and she just fluffed it off, saying that yes they knew of the issue, and to go ahead and let the system put in the quantity of 1 yard, but to indicate in the 'NOTES' section of the order page, that I only wanted a half yard cut of each print. I did as she suggested. It was clearly stated in the 'NOTES' section, that I only wanted to order 1/2 yard cuts.

I actually didn't go back online to place my order until Saturday 16 July, 2011. The woman I spoke with on the telephone previously, said that my account would not be charged anything until the items shipped and that I would be notified.

I did not receive any further communication from this 'ChangingThreads.com' store until 7/18/2011 via email. They told me my order had been shipped, but they didn't indicate what the total charge would be. I decided to check my bank account online.

When I looked at the transactions in my bank account, I noticed the charges that this merchant had put through. There were two separate transactions. One for the the total of the merchandise, and a separate one for the shipping. I thought this was odd to separate these things out like they did. Usually, it's included in the whole total with merchandise and shipping together.

The amount that was charged for the shipping was exactly what it was supposed to be at $4.75 for Priority Mail. The charge that blew me out of my seat, was the one for the merchandise at $35.90. Now this is the rub...

The merchandise I ordered was to have been charged at $5.48 per 1/2 yd. of fabric. A whole yard of this particular fabric would have been charged at $10.95/yd. Stay with me here...

Even if I HAD ordered a whole yard of each of these fabrics, my total bill would have been $21.90 ($10.95 x 2) plus shipping of $4.75 to equal a total of $26.54.

Bottom line is, I should have been charged a total of $10.96 ($5.48 x 2) for the actual merchandise, plus the shipping of $4.75 to equal a total of $15.71.

Where did this figure of $35.90 come from???!!! PLUS a shipping charge of $4.75 to equal a total bill charged to my account of $40.65 !!!

$40.64 vs $15.71. Am I not seeing something here? And no one at this establishment cares to talk to me, their customer, about it. FACT: I am no longer a 'customer' of this place.

When I saw these charges in my bank account, I picked up the phone immediately and called this ChangingThreads.com place. It was roughly 6:30am- 7:00am MDT (my time) when I phoned the merchant to ask them what was going on. It was only around 5am in the morning where they are in Alaska when I called. Someone (the same lady I spoke with several days ago about the shopping cart issue stated above) answered the phone. I told them what I was calling about and asked them if they saw the comments in the NOTES section of the order I placed, and they said yes.

This lady told me that 'someone else' does the actually inputting and credit card stuff for all the orders. That she would get with this person that day (when everyone woke up). That she would just 'eat' the fact that they probably sent me too much fabric, and that I would receive a credit.

She also told me that she would contact me later that day (send me an email is what she said) to let me know the details.

That was 3 days ago. I've tried repeatedly to get in contact with someone there via telephone and email. No one has responded. I have left several messages to no avail. All they needed to do was give a little customer service, tell me what was going on and what to expect, and that they had 'fixed' everything, and all would be well.

This is very disturbing to me, as I am in the customer service industry myself. When one of my customers has an issue (which thankfully is not very often at all), I drop Everything, and tend to their issues. After all, customers are what keeps us in business, no?

So what I ask now is, what can be done about this? Anything? I thought I'd give this 'RipOffReport' thing a go.

Good luck to me...

All I'm trying to do here, is get someone (who is supposedly in the business of customer service) to do the right thing. I have been over charged and lied to. This 'place of business' continues to ignore me, and treat me like I don't exist. This is unconscionable. Especially when all it's gonna take to set things right is - at the very least - communication!
