Same thing happened to my wife's Chase card. She has nothing negative on her credit report, yet Chase upped her rate to 32% 3 months AFTER increasing her limit! She has never been late with anybody, yet they think they can justify an increase just to line their pockets. However, if you close the card, you will still be at your old rate. But closing a credit account can be risky to your credit score. What I did was I immediately filed a report with the BBB, and sent an email to Chase stating that this increase is a blatant ripoff designed to increase profits, and that I have reported it to the BBB and Attorney General's office. This month, there were numerous credits to our account due to the drop in our apr. try it, you have nothing to lose exept high interest fees.
