Purchased a trip that included flight, hotel and car from Cheaptickets. The trip was paid for February 2007 in the amount of $1,882.00. In addition to the trip, I also purchased the "trip-protector" in case I had to cancel my trip.

The trip was purchased four months in advance to make sure I could get accomodations, etc. since it was for a major athletic event I would be participating in.

My family and I moved to the east coast temporarily 3,000 miles away from my trip's departure city which was California. I determined that logistically and physically that it would be impossible for me to be in this event. That's when I called Cheaptickets to say I needed to cancel my trip. It was at least 30 days before departure.

Cheaptickets said they didn't handle the cancellations or refunds and gave me a telephone number to call. This totally baffled me since in the past when I've had to cancel and had the trip protector, I got a refund. If not a total refund (less trip protector fees), a refund on the hotel and a credit for the airline ticket to use within a year of issue date.

I called the number to some company called Access America and asked what their affiliation was with Cheaptickets. They said they were an insurance company and I had to file a claim. They sent the forms two weeks later and the questions were ridiculous. I knew then I was just scammed big time. Was there a death in the family; need death certificate. Was this from an injury; need doctors emergency room statement and on and on. The form was so unprofessional that it was'nt even on letterhead, no company name. They had my birthdate as January 1901.

Moved back to California in July and as of that date still hadn't heard anything. I disputed the charges on my credit card but cheaptickets had all the documents that said they were non-refundable BUT they didn't give them any information on this trip protector in case of cancellation.

It's almost September and I have emailed Cheaptickets trying to get an answer to how/why they can just pocket $1,882.00? If I do get an email, it is an automated one with one of my other flights mentioned. If I hadn't saved everything, you'd never know they I planned a trip with them. They are just hoping I'll go away so they don't respond to my emails and this bogus Access America I finally got a hold of and of course they told me my claim was denied.

I am not going away and I will not give up. It's the principal of the matter and it's totally dishonest and misleading what they are doing. That $1,882.00 is a lot of money to me especially since I'm a single mom that just sent her twins to their freshman year of college.

If there is anyone out there that can help, please do!!!
