We (click4moving.com) contracted with Cherryone web after an in person meeting with their representative, Mike Shah. He described his organization as the premier Chicago Company in developing and marketing new websites. After one year, we could not be more disappointed with all aspects of their service.

Their professionalism and service is questionable. After sending our $3,700 deposit (aka flushing $3700 down the drain) the site development work began, which was not a pleasant process. Their developers lacked initiative, business insight, and common sense: characteristics we were assured were traits of the Cherryone designers. We gave the designers creative carte blanche' to accomplish the micro' portions of the site. We only wanted to be consulted with the macro' items. Simple requests for alterations to copy (such as spelling and punctuation), color schemes, or images were met with tremendous difficulty. Our time would have been better spent taking a web design class, and doing it ourselves. They lacked the ability to perform practical functions necessary to design a web site.

Further, telephone calls to their office were a real challenge. Calls were rarely returned, e-mails received even less attention. If we did get through to someone on the phone, they suggested sending e-mails. (A message that would never be answered.) For example, after 5 months designing a 20 page website, we decided to drop off the final check at their Chicago HQ, in February. Unfortunately, the building intercom phone is the same as the regular phone, so our call went unanswered, again. (Ironically, this time we were left out in the cold literally, not just figuratively.)

Their billing practices are deceptive. They billed us large sums without evidence of any work being performed. For instance, we were regularly billed for PPC and SEO management fees, yet they were never able to demonstrate (spoken or written) what work was actually being done. Also, after informing them that we would not utilize their on-line billing system, and instead requested physical copies of all invoices, they did not oblige. Consequently, the bills (which were seemingly erroneous anyway) continued to build over the course of 7 months. Failure to pay for work (they did not seem to be performing) would result in the website being taken off-line as they own the domain and host the site. This is the part of the story that most consumers are unlikely to consider. Cherryone holds all the cards. Is seems that their their business model doesn't allow for long term customers. One year or so, and they're on to another unsuspecting consumer or business.

They were never interested in this web-site having any degree of success; rather, they seemed to go down a checklist of matters that would ultimately provide for their greatest good in the short term. We never would have imagined that we would be the victim to this treatment. We believe other consumers and businesses should be very cautious when dealing with Cherryone of Chicago.
