Hi there, I am sorry you had to experiance Coccidia. For everyones Own information, Coccidia is very common anywhere there are dogs keep or go, including boarding facilitys, vets, parks, farms, ect. When People get a New puppy no matter what breed , they should take it in for a Fecal test and puppy wellness exame within 48 hours of getting it. If they cant because its a weekend, they should do it as soon as possible. Just because a pup has a healthy stool when it is taken home does not mean its not going to latter get diareah. Coccidia does not normaly hurt dogs, but in puppys that get stressed from moving, or after a shot drops its immune system, then they offten will start to get loose stool, which if not corrected right away can cause dehidration, and latter bloody stool. Please Please Please Have any New Pet seen by a Vet within the 48 hours of bringing it home , Keep your new pet healthy with Regular Worming and Flea Medication, and Please have its stool tested for things that can be corrected. It sounds like this place is not as bad as once thought, but its too bad you did not get to see this pup interact with its littermates, or find out if its an aggressive puppy or a shy one compaired to its brothers and sisters. Personaly, Its best to meet the Puppys parents to be able to know if a puppy is for you. If you are out of state, get your Breeder to discripe the Personalitys of the adult dogs, so you know what to expect personality wise of your new dog. Have a Happy Time with your Furkid!

Please let it be known that the Management at Indogneato in Westminster reimbursed us for our incurred medical expenses for our Siberian Husky. They were very professional and accommodating and it was very much appreciated. After several tests, it was eventually determined that our Husky has a food intolerance (common to the breed) and is on a special diet for this condition. It took a while to determine this, however, all is now well! Thank you to my exceptional Veterinarian as well as Indogneato! In addition, we are happy to announce that we are in the process of purchasing another Husky for a playmate! :)

Pet shops are required to follow the laws and regulations of their city. Call your local humaine society and ask them to inspect. Tell them your story. Prevent this from happening to others if you can. Animal Control does care about the well being of these pets. Remember that pet stores do get their pups from puppy mills. If you buy another pet at some point, do a lot of research first. Stay away from back yard breeders and pet shops. The money you spent on medical would have more than paid for a pup from a reputable breeder. Pet stores usually charge about the same price if not more than a proper breeder. Good luck and enjoy your pup. You spent some money on vet bills but you still have him. Herb

Unfortunatly you have learned a valuable lesson about puppy mills. Pet shops buy from puppy mills. Puppy mills are terrible places. Luckly your pup will recover. That infection can only be gotten two ways. Unsanitary conditions OR irrigation water. Unfortunatly my Border Collie pup got it from playing in irrigation water.

Contact the District Attorney's office in the county where the pet store is located. Advise them of the situation, get the information on the puppy's condition from your vet to back it up, and tell them you wish to file an animal abuse complaint. Take the pet store to small claims court and try to get any money back you had to spend on your puppy because it was ill at the time of purchase. You should also check this website: http://www.kindplanet.org They are in California and know the abuse laws in that area. Good luck.
