In June of 2002, I was searching for an inexpensive pSP. The "Houston Chronicle" had full-page ads, for several months, for "ChiliTech" (an on-line service) for $9.95/mo. when purchasing for a full year. I purchased for a full year.
I was happy with their service and price, however when I inquired about renewing the service, they said they would bill my credit card for $155+. I responded that I had paid only $119.40 initially. They said "yes, but that was only an "introdutory" price. Nowhere in the ad does it mention that fact, nor on their "policies" on their web page that you have to agree to before they will begin service, however it does say Introductory on their main web page.
As you know, it is a pain to change e-mail addresses, so I will probably stay with this company, however BEWARE OF IT"S FINANCIAL TACTICS!

Introductory Offer a financial tactic??

As an employee of ChiliTech, I can say that what "Genevieve" said is correct. Our annual introductory rate for the first year of service is $119.40. After the first year customers then pay our regular discount rate of $155.40 annually, which is a savings of $36 over our regular monthly rate of $15.95 per month. Where I disagree is the implication that this is some kind of "financial tactic". Our pricing is, and always has been posted quite plainly on our pricing page. It is also in our Terms of Service and explained in the welcome email that all new accounts receive. We do not try to deceive anyone when they sign up and our Customer Service department is happy to answer any questions someone would have regarding any of our policies prior to signing up.
