My son wanted to purchase a Harley Sportster back in September of 2016. He took a 2010 John Feng Outlaw 250 in for a trade in. After thinking about it for a day or so he decided to wait and find something less expensive. When asked to get his Outlaw back they had already gotten rid of it so, he was talked into a lease program on a bike through Chrome Capital. Sounded good at the time. The Outlaw was taken as a down payment and mom co-signed to help him build his credit. The one thing we were told that if he didn't like the bike or couldn't afford the payments he could bring it back with no harm no foul. Great !! After getting home and reading the contract more carefully we found out that is not true so I called Crome Capital. We were given incorrect information. If the bike is turned in early or any modifications are done all bets are off and there are large fees plus the ruining of credit. THEN come to find out that even though the bike is only worth $5840.00 after paying $8217.00 for three years the bike still isn't paid off and have to pay another year to own it. It has broken down several times. The regular insurance plus the added protection only covers certian things so yes, he has had to do the work himself or not at all and yes, it would now be considered modified so, we're screwed. Can't take it back without repercussions, he can't get another dealership to take it and pay it off without a good chunk for another down payment for another bike. Between the dealerships and Chrome Capital working together, don't do it. You can't just TAKE IT BACK, coverage isn't worth the time, paper and ink and you end up paying three times what it is worth. Now he has a bike that needs the clutch assemply replaced already and is sitting plus other problems that have to wait. When a bike has this many problems, modified or not, and no matter what the lease says, if you're told you can bring it back then that's what you should be able to do and get it replaced even if it has to be with a little less expensive bike.
