CIC Credit Reporting Misleading information! FRAUD! BEWARE! Internet
MSN.com featured www.consumerinfo.com on their website as offering FREE credit reports. I followed the link and my husband and I both accessed our reports. We were under the impression that they would be available for 30 days and then we would no longer be able to view them. Not a problem.
Today I checked my bank/debit card statement and find TWO charges for $79.95 from this company. I immediately called my bank and had the charges disputed. I tried calling the company, but due to a time difference, they are not open. I'll have to call them tomorrow.
The point is, I feel extremely taken. On www.consumerinfo.com it SPECIFICALLY STATES, "Well, we're convinced that once you've tried the CreditCheck Monitoring Service on a FREE trial basis, you'll want to continue with this vital service for staying on top of your credit. But if you don't that's okay too--there's no obligation and no commitment." I EMPHASIZE the fact that their website states that there is "NO OBLIGATION AND NO COMMITMENT." If this is true, then why have I been charged $160?????? I can't wait to hear their answer when I call tomorrow. I'll post an update.
