Cingular Wireless is a terrible company, avoid them. Ripoff Texas
I had a cell phone with Cingular since March of 2005. In April 2005 I ran in to a rough patch and missed a complete bill and was only able to pay a partial payment. By that time, my phone bill, due to an activation charge and late charge was over $200. When I could afford to pay again, in May 2005, I went to the local Cingular store to use the automated system, as I had in the past. The system could not find my account, nor could I locate my account online. I had no way to pay on my account through the regular payment system. By mid-June, my account had been sold to a collections agency in Puerto Rico...?!?!?
I am loathe to do business with Cingular ever again. When it was AT&T it was SO much better.
For all of you former AT&T cusomers, keep in mind that Cingular charges you for incoming text messeges, AT&T did not. Cingular never notified anyone of this and made a killing. Getting text messeging turned off is barely protection, it seems to get turned back on mysteriously from time to time, especially when cingular wants to send you an advertisement via text message.
Forget trying to contact them either, once your account has been closed, not even customer service can find it. Their advice to me upon attempting to pay on my account was something like, "Well, we can't really do much here, try your local Cingular store, see if they will take your payment." Thanks guys, realy big help there.
