CIT, Lease Finance Group ripoff Chicago Illinois
I owned a business for 3 years which I closed a year and a half ago. I contracted with Fifth 3rd Bank for my credit card set up.
After closing my business and bank accout I began to get bill from this CIT Lease Finance Group. I had no idea who this was sience I had never see a contract or a bill before. I can speculate that they sub contracted out the equipment through CIT. I thought I had a 3 year contract with my credit card company, which is the case because Fifth 3rd never billed me again. However CIT Lease Finance Group has become my personal living hell.
I could not find a contract with an agreement of 4 years,as they stated I had signed, and they could not produce one, so to keep my credit intact I paid them $50 per month for a year and a half. I was given options to buy this equipment, that I could not afford...so I paid.
I became divorced and moved, asking them repeatedly to change my address, but they would not. So several times I got behind because I did not have my statement on time. This spiraled into a verbal battle with this planets most trained, hostile, vile phone reps I have ever encountered.
I finally agreed to buy out my contract and send back the equipment after discovering that my credit beacon score had dropped 140 points in 6 months.
I have never missed a payment on anything in my life, with a perfect credit rating, not any longer.
They lost 2 checks I sent for payment that they claim they did not receive, which turned into 60 days late, then 90 then 120. This mail was never returned to sender, nor did they clear my bank, but twice this happened.
They refused to change my address after repeated requests.
The collections people called my workplace almost daily, someimes twice a day.
They called my work place and asked for my supervisor, when he came to the phone they asked him to please talk to me about paying my bill. This is highly illegal.
I asked them from day one not to call my work, they continued. I gave them my cell number so they would not call my job, and they set me up on a twice daily call from unknown number with a message saying "this is an attempt to collect a debt" but no person on the phone, just harrassment.
I applied for a loan the other day with my long standing bank, and was horrified to see what these scum bags have done to my "perfect credit".
My next step will be to find out if I ever even signed a contract with them.
Please note to all concerned citizens and businesses, do not sign anything with CIT Financial anywhere on it, and be sure your sales reps guarantee you the equipment you buy or lease does not come from them.
I was denied credit for the first time in 20 years, I am heart broken, distressed, and at a loss for what to do now.
Thank you for validating that I am not he only one dealing with this horrific company.
I would eagerly join any action against this company. And will hire a personal attorney to "harrass" them.
