There were no charges on this account for gasoline, in this area of Texas Citgo gasoline is watered down so we don't use it. Citgo offered an AD&D policy which we were stupid enough to believe was a good thing. Years ago we were sent a check from them for $1500 that we cashed as times were hard, all of that has been paid back except for $300. We have always paid the minimum amount due or more, most of the time double the amount.

Due to interest on both the AD&D premium and the borrowed amount the account has now soared to over $1000, even though there had never been any late payments until the account was closed online and I was unable to make the May payment online. I was told this was due to the account being "overlimit" and they were demanding a payment of $132.63.

Since that time they have called our home up to 5 times a day every day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday, many times late in the day. When I speak to them about this situation, they are extremely rude. They deny the usurious interest even though CitiGroup is notorious for this action.

I have told them that I will pay what a truly owe them, but I will not pay usurious interest. I do not care if this ends up on our credit report. Credit report agencies are just another way of having what should be a secure information given out or sold on lists so that the public can be bombarded with "You are prequalified!" credit card offers and the like. This country has allowed big business to become an internet highwayman and we have no recourse for these hounds.

I have a CITGO card and it is what it is; the interest rate and fees are high so I use it for CITGO purchases only and don't carry a balance.

You took them up for an expensive credit offer because you probably couldn't get anything better, and now you are complaining that they expect to be paid off in full under the terms of your agreement.  You do not have a right to back out on your debts, and Citi has every right to collect on them. If you can't afford your payments then talk to a financial advisor or a bankruptcy attorney.
