Back in Jan 2005 I was issued a BP gas card through Citi Bank. A month later I received a letter indicating my PIN for the card, however my card never arrived. There was no number to reach the credit card company, and the number on the PIN letter was no longer in service. I recently checked my credit through Experian, and saw that the card was "open" and "active", however, I never received the card to even activate! I had wrote numerous letters to the company to cancel the card, but I never heard a response. I wanted this closed and off my credit report, since I have never used, and will never use the card. I contacted the Experian dispute department, and I was able to close the account through disputing the account on my credit report. In my search for a phone number and address for this company, I realized there were a lot more victims of the credit card company. So I thought I would share my experiance and how I resolved it. If you have this problem, this is what I did.... I went onto the Experian website (Experian.com) and ordered my free report for the year. When you go under the section to review open accounts ect., I disputed the information for the BP/CITI account, and advised them of my situation. Today, I received a letter in the mail from Experian advising me the account has been closed per consumer request. I am not sure how Experian was able to get ahold of this company, but if you are having this problem as well, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ABOVE MENTIONED STEPS! I am not sure what the deal is with BP/CITI but I will never get a card through them again!
