Citi Cash Returns Mastercard Citibank credit protector cancellation ripoff Fort Worth Texas
As an authorized user on my husband's new Citibank mastercard, I called the number on the card to activate the account. I was repeatedly badgered by a hard-sell telemarketer to purchase their credit protector. Each time the telemarketer would push the product down my throat, I refused. He told me each time that all I had to do is call and cancel! I promised him I would.
As soon as I received their letter congratulating us on being sucked into their vortex of scams, I called the number on the form letter. I was instantly informed that only the account holder could cancel. The account holder is my husband. He works 60 hours a week as an engineer to pay the bills. I handle the finances and therefore make these calls. I got a "supervisor" on the phone and asked why I was good enough to be sold the garbage, but not good enough to cancel? Their excuse was that it was a purchase, but returns can only be authorized by my husband. I am paying off the balance and having him cancel the card.
