as far as i can tell, you are partly to blame. according to you... I am a customer of Rooms-to-Go and Citi Financial. On 8-13-06 I purchased items from Rooms-to-Go totaling $1534.93 which was not due until 1-14-08. On 9-23-06 I purchased items for $2216.96 not due until 4-14-08. On 1-13-07 I purchased items for $639.97 not due until 1-14-09. Total due as of 4/2008 was $3751.89, plus two months of interest and fees of about $117.00 equal a grand total of $3868.89. In March of 2008 I sent a Cashiers Check to Citi Financial attempting to pay the entire amount of $3868.89 off and in full. The check that I mailed was for $4392.00, which left $523.11 to be applied to the amount not owed until 1-14-2009. This should have left an amount around $116.86 which would not be due until January of 2009 in accordance with their promotion. i have purchased items from rooms-to-go before, and have had financing via citifinancial (currently, they finance through wells fargo). anyhow, no interests would have accrued IF you had made full payment of the $1534.93 by 1/14/08, as stated. however, it seems you ignored this fact, and decided that payment was not necessary until 3/2008. what this means is that you neglected the contract which you had signed. a total of $1534.93 was due on or before 1/14/08, or else interest would be added to that amount. i have not gone through the rest of the calculations, but the point i made sheds some light on WHERE you are partly to blame. sorry. :o(

GR in Florida: You are incorrect in blaming or even linking Rooms To Go with the problem you are having with Citi Financial. If you applied for credit from Citi Finance through Rooms To Go, the salesperson would have given you a copy of the terms and conditions of the finance plan. They have to by law but like every customer, you probably laid them down in the store somewhere and never got out the door with them. Rooms To Go only gives you the application, they do not handle the financing portion. If there were a question about your charges, they could provide copies of all your invoices so you could total what they should be. Beyond that, just like you would not go back to the car dealership to handle an issue with your car payment, Rooms To Go has nothing to do with the finance terms. Citi finance terms clearly state, they have the right to apply payments any way they deem and they have the right to change the way they are applied at any time. I truly hope you get this issue resolved but with the way the terms read, I don't know if you'll have any luck. You might have wanted to call Citi BEFORE you sent such a big check and asked how it would be applied. Trust me, it happened to me with a completely different finance company on a retail purchase because I didn't read the fine print. Just don't blame Rooms To Go. They are NOT required to go over the fine print of the terms.
