Citi bank sent me a letter wanting me to admit to a credit card fraud transaction.

This all stemming from a email I receive from a man masking hisself as a company legitimitely sending me money thru a wire service which I had no knowledge of except of the email from said person above that he would wire me a sum of 7800 dollars that he saids was his money.

Citi bank wants me to sign a false statement claming I done this and open an account to pay it back as I sent the money to another co partner of the said person above beliving it was theirs.

They have threatened me with a lawsuit if I don't.

I did not even have any knowledge of who sent the money as to what wire service or bank it was 2 weeks before they contacted my bank.

Contact your local police.

One other thing you should probably do is to contact your local police department and file a police report concerning the wire transfer scam with whatever division handles fraud investigations. It can only help in the long run with what ever legal actions CitiBank may take against you. Good luck and best wishes.

Unfortunately, Willie, as you are probably already aware, you are the latest victim of a very old scam. Unfortunately you are also the one left holding the bag. You are the only one that CitiBank can go after since the account is in your name. Right now it sounds like a civil matter but if you cannot work out an arrangement to pay CitiBank back their money, it could become a criminal matter. If you have a relative or friend who is or knows a lawyer, it might be wise to speak with them and get their advice. Good luck resolving this with CitiBank.
