In March I took my vehicle in to a transmission repair shop because my speedometer stop working. The transmission shop broke my transmission and all wheel drive shaft in order to increase the repair costs. I will be writing a report on them and Farmers next. I removed my car from that shop and placed it in another transmission shop. The cost of the damage shop 1 caused was $3,790.

I contacted Citifinancial Auto and told them what happened. I was told that I had a balance of $489.00 that need to be paid to bring my account current. My april payment would be deferred and their grant division would pay 25% of the repair cost if I come up with the rest. For a month I tried every reasonable means that I could to come up with my portion.

Finally, repair shop 2 sent a letter saying that if they did not receive payment for the repairs by the end of May the vehicle would be sold. I called CitiFinancial Auto and informed them that I still did not have my portion and the car was going to be sold at the end of the month.

After being transferred to 4 different departments I was told to file a claim with their insurance company. After doing that I was contacted by their insurance company denying my claim because I already had insurance and they could only be called if I didn't have insurance.

On May 17th I contacted repair shop 2 to find out where I stood. That same day I received a letter from Citifinancial Auto saying that I needed to pay $163.21 that was passed due. I was told that someone from the finance company had came out and looked at the car and they were going to receive payment. CitiFinancial never told me that they were going to pay for the repairs I found out from the repair place.

I tried contacting the repair place the following week to see if anything had change and was not able to reach anyone. Finally on May 29th, I contacted the repair shop again and was told that the finance company had picked up my car and paid for the repairs.

When I contacted them I was put on hold, then hung up on, then finally after being transferred 4 times I was able to speak to a Ms Lopez. She told me that since I could not pay for the repairs I voluntarily gave up my vehicle. I told her I was under the impression that CitiFinancial was going to pay 25% of the repairs and if I couldn't come another option would be looked at. She said that there was no record of that conversation and that I was unresponsive and I still owed $163.21.

On Jun 1 I called in to pay the $163.21 as stated in the letter I had until Jun 2nd to pay it, I was transferred 5 times, the last person I talked to asked what I wanted I said that I wanted to make the $163.21 payment that was stated in the letter. A Darren Miller told me that I should keep my money and that the car was repossessed and in order for me to get it back I had to pay the balance.

I asked for something in writing with the amount owed and that the vehicle will be returned to me when the amount was paid in full. He told me that I would get something in writing after the vehicle was sold. Then he hung up on me.

This was my only means of transportation to and from work. I was not able to retrieve my personal belongings that was in the vehicle. I wasn't given a chance to act. Since dealing with this company I have been harrassed over payments that I had made. Arrangements that I have kept and they refused to acknowledge them.

They have called me on my job all hours of the day and night and have shown up at my house 4 times in the last 6 months after I stopped answering calls from them. All of their representatives are rude and disrespectful. I have been yelled out, told that i should have managed my accounts better and repeatedly threatened with repossession since I have been dealing with this company.

I have never dealt with such disregard for customer service. They are still in business and ripping people off. They have some many better business complaints it is ridiculous. If anybody has had any dealings with this company please reply. They need to be stopped.

They are not responsible unless you can't pay for them

If you have repair costs that are excessive like $2,000 or more and you do not have the means to pay them. You can contact your finance company and they have programs for situations like this. In my case my repair costs were almost $4,000. CitiFinancial supposedly had a grant program that would assist with 25% of the repair cost which equaled about $897 of the bill. I didn't have the rest, so instead of financing the cost into the loan they repossessed my car without my knowledge. They didn't tell me they were going to pay the repairs or that if they did, they would take possession of my vehicle. If they were reputable like decent finance companies it would have been more cost effective because i still owed $14,000, to finance the costs into the loan and I would pay a higher car payment and they would get more interest. CitiFinancial is in the business of taking advantage of people, bully them, and capitalizing on their misfortune. They need to be stopped, before someone goes off the deep end and innocent people get injured.

I'm confused...Why was Citifinancial supposed to pay?

If I understand your report, you financed the auto through Citifinancial. Why would you report the mechanical problems and their costs/bills to Citifinancial? They aren't responsible for the bills - you are. Unless you financed the bills too? Did you take out an additional loan for the fixing of your car? I just can't make heads or tails of your report.
