I called this company because I had a coupon to get my sofa/loveseat cleaned for $99. When the men arrived, they immediately went into their sales speak about how my furniture was old and stained and I should really just throw it away. They made it clear that I needed the truck mount system to do my furniture justice- of course, they didn't mention that the truck mount system is not what the coupon covered.

They never even spoke about the coupon cleaning method. They went into their demo (which included spraying my cushion with liquid- hardly a "dry" technique), and then told me the job would cost $400 (with protective sealant) or $300 without.

I was not prepared to pay that amount, and I really didn't like the way the lead man was speaking to me. He was very pushy and kept putting me down. I told him several times that I just wasn't in a position to pay that kind of money. He lowered the price a few times- down to $200, but frankly, by this time, I just wanted him and his helper to leave. I politely asked him to just leave the estimate and I'd talk it over with my husband.

He refused to leave! He told me he wasn't leaving without doing the job. He said he didn't just give estimates. He never left a site without doing the job. He started filling out the paperwork as if I was going to sign it and agree. His tone was very intimidating and I started to worry about how I was going to get him to leave. I told him I did not like the way he was pressuring me- that his tactics were making me uncomfortable. I very sternly then told him I was not interested and I asked him to leave my house.

He just stood there and insisted he was going to clean my furniture. At this point I was getting anxious. I told him if he didn't leave right now I would go get my neighbor. He then accused me of being disrespectful to him and said I should not threaten him. I told him I felt threatened by him because I'd asked him to leave my home 3-4 times by now and he wasn't budging. I told him he was being disrespectful to me.

He then muttered something about how he should make me pay for the gas mileage he spent to come to my house, even though the coupon said "free estimate." At this point I ordered him to leave (and I am a person who never raises her voice). I repeated it 3-4 times before I got any response from him. He finally said he was leaving, but it would take awhile to gather up his stuff and go.

When he finally left my house I was shaking and emotional. I've never been a situation like that where someone was so bully-like and refused to leave my home. My 12 year old son came running out of the hallway at that moment with his pocket knife in hand. He said he'd been listening in the hall because he'd heard me and the man arguing and he wanted to make sure I was alright.

I immediately called the company to report this man's atrocious behavior. I was clearly upset on the phone as I told the receptionist what had occurred. I asked to speak to a manager, and I was told by the receptionist that someone would call me back. No one ever called!

All of our technicians undergo extensive training in customer service and the policies and procedures of our company. When a technician enters a customer's house they arrive prepared to give a free estimate and demonstration in order to give the customer the largest range of choices and to insure their satisfaction. In order to give the demonstration the technician must bring in a lot of supplies, so when asked to leave it took a few minutes in order to remove all the supplies from the customer's home. Upon investigation into this incident we found no evidence supporting the customer's claim that the technician attempted to intimidate or berate the customer into accepting the estimate and completing the job at that time. Our managers work on the field as well checking the technician's work and insuring satisfaction. A message was sent by the receptionist to the managerial staff, the call was returned several times with no answer. We are sincerely sorry if the customer did feel threatened however, in our research we found no information indicating that the technician was disrespectful, aggressive or disregarding.
