Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
As previous writers have stated: I joined ClearCredit.com for a credit report and monitoring service in May of 2003.

At that time I instructed then to take no action on any "fixing" of my credit report unless authorized by me. They responded through email that this was OK and understood by them.

Flash to July 29th of 2005. My wife received our first phone call from 1st Credit of America about $59.95 charge from an account we never heard of before. Luckily I married well and my wife told them we needed more information before we paid anything. Smart lady.

Now, as seems to be the norm here, we are called at least once a day and threatened with bad credit if we don't pay up now. We refused to pay until they can show us that the money is rightly owed to them.

I am writing my first validation request letter this weekend and have sent online complaints to the BBB and my state Attorney General.

It seems that my Clear Credit account was closed, not by me, and this charge was put on my account. Then Clear Credit was sold to My Perfect Credit and in turn, they handed the "delinquent" account over to the thugs at 1st Credit of America.

Not one word of contact; by phone, email or letter during the 2 years this was all taking shape.

Fight the good fight people......

On August 11th, after 2 weeks of hassle and calls, I sent an email to [email protected] on the advice of an author at this site. After a few lingering calls, it has become blissfully quiet. Here is a copy of that email and their response: Hello, Can someone please take care of this matter... I'm being harassed by 1st Credit of America. I've seen complaints about them on Rip-offreport.Com... I have also seen your companies name listed. I already informed Attorney General Office here in Iowa. I would appreciate you taking care of this matter. I do not owe anything to My Perfect Credit, Clear Credit or 1st Credit of America. I signed up for a supposed "free" report back in 2003 and cancelled. I did not hear anything back from any company until the nasty, rude phone calls started from 1st Credit demanding payment for something I did not owe. Thank you for your time................... (response 8/11)************** Thank you for submitting to MyPerfectCredit Member Support. Your question will be answered in the order received. We strive to rapidly respond to your needs and will make every attempt to do so. Please be patient with us and you will receive an answer shortly. Our Member Support hours are generally 9:00 am to 5:30pm PST on all normal business working days. Best Regards, Member Support Supervisor MyPerfectCredit, Inc. (and then 8/11)************** Thank you for contacting MyPerfectCredit concerning your account. We have reviewed your account and informed 1st Credit of America to remove you from collections. Kind Regards, Member Support Supervisor MyPerfectCredit, Inc. [email protected]

Clear Credit info is still listed as an "affiliate" product or company under the web site HarrisDigitalPublishing.com and as far as I can tell, there was no charge mentioned of a $59.95 amount. I too kick my self for falling for the web sites "free credit report". Don't pay, call your state AG, file with the FTC, and internet fraud division of FBI. These people and their "affiliates" need to be held responsible. They are the real criminals.

I received a message on my answering machine last night from a Michael Sanchez working for 1st Credit of America. I had spoken with this individual before. He stated in his message that he had some information about my account he wanted to fax to my work place and to call him back. I did call and when I asked what information he had to fax me, he said that he didn't have any information and I must have misunderstood his message and "how was I going to take care of this debt. When I told him that I needed proof of the debt before I would pay it, he became rude. He said that I was calling him a liar. Why would I put myself and my family through this for a mere $59.95? That we would have to take care of this in court. I told him that in 2 emails that I received from My Perfect Credit, I was told to get account information from them. He then told me that he didn't have any information and again mentioned "court". And hung up. Enter Miss Good Cop. About an hour later a woman from first credit called and again inquired about how I was going to take care of this debt. She was (acted like) unaware that I had been called just an hour before and did not seem to recognize my first callers name. I explained to her the situation and that I was not going to pay for something that I thought was a false charge. She asked me what date I cancelled my Clear Credit account. Being it was 2 years ago, I told her that I was not sure if I had ever cancelled it. She told me that if I did not cancel, that the $59.95 was the fee for service. I asked how there could be a fee for free credit report and no other action being taken on my account. She did not have an answer. I told her that I would be sending a letter validation to them so that they would send me the account information that I am seeking. She told me that after they receive the letter, they would send something right out to me. All the while, I could hear her typing away on a keyboard take down my information. I bet the calls still keep coming. If you do talk to these people, keep your cool. They are just trying to get you worked up so you will pay them off to end this. Don't give them the satifaction. PS - Does anyone remember the Clear Credit agreement? Could it be possible that I did owe Clear Credit and was never informed of it until now?
