On May 30th, my wife took our BRAND NEW Honda CRV into Cole Honda for a routine Oil Change and tire rotation, to ensure that the vehicle meets the terms of the manufacturer's warranty. The vehicle at that time had 15260 miles on it, and it was time for the third oil change (per manufacturer specifications).

They charged for 143.84 plus tax for their "15k mile service oil and filter service and checkup" which included among other things "lubricating the Hood, Door, and Trunk hinges" and a "Tire wear and safety inspection." There also was an 11.64 dollar "Miscellaneous shop supplies fee" which has me wondering, was that for coffee or for a roll of papertowels?

Anyway, here's the breakdown:

116.40 for labor

5.30 for oil filter

.50 for a washer

10.00 for oil

11.64 I went out for coffee "shop supplies"

Total of 152.47 when you add the tax

I tried to call the service manager at least 3 times, no call back, never available. I filed a complaint with the bbb, and the response from the company was that "their pricing was in line with the industry prices." Perhaps someone should tell jiffy lube they are cutting their pricing waaaaaayyy too low. I figure at absolute most 40$ for an oil change and 20$ for a tire rotation. They can keep their hinge lubrication, and buy their own coffee. I called American Honda and was told "they have no control over dealership shop pricing." They didn't want involved.

So in summary, I'm very ticked at both American Honda, and Cole Honda (the dealership, aka the representative of Honda to the general public in West Viriginia).

I wouldnt do any repair work at Cole Honda, Princeton WV unless you feel like getting ripped off!

I think your issue is with the labor

which was more than half the total bill -- $116.40 to be exact. When you take a car to the dealership, you pay a premium for the labor as compared, say to Jxxxx Lube. I get coupons in the mail from DxxxxChrysler all the time for $19.99 oil changes. But that doesn't include the labor. It's really $50 after labor, about twice what you'd pay at Jxxxx Lube. I just had the rear brake pads replaced and an oil change at the dealer. $400, and labor was most of it. It sucked. And now I know how they have an espresso machine and leather furniture in the customer lounge, and fresh (real) flowers and granite countertops in the restroom. sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome! Have a "new" F-150 truck with 15,000 miles on it too. red mccombs charges $109 for the 15k check. gillespie charges $139 for the same identical service. When I get it done, I think I'll go to mccombs. Not because I like mccombs but because it's $30 cheaper. Now if there were any difference between the two, I could understand the price difference. But both are the MFG required service. One just wants to charge more then the other. By almost 30 percent. I've found that at gillespie. Bought the wife a honda a month ago. They are higher then others. Maybe you ought to take your honda to walmart to get the oil changed. Then we can read about how walmart screwed up your "new" car. Guy I know has an older honda with 265k miles on it. He takes his to the dealer. I look at it as dealer welfare.

Shop supplies a labour mark-up

The amount you give for Shop Supplies looks like a 10% markup on labour. So you are right, it does go to paper towels, soap, coffee whitener, ear plugs, etc.

How is 15260 miles considered "BRAND NEW"?
