Collegiate Housing Services, Inc. Unconscionable leases Indianapolis, Indiana
CHS subleases apartments to students at for-profit schools at 3 to 4 times the market rate for the apartments. CHS has a business practice of saddling students and their parents with expensive, complicated, one-sided, unconscionable leases full of unreasonable fees. As of today, 29 complaints have been filed against CHS with the Better Business Bureau within the last 36 months. I suspect the leases are illegal under the Landlord/Tenant statutes of several states. Avoid CHS at all costs and find an apartment on your own or through a reputable real estate agent.
