If you recently purchased an RV/Motorhome, you will most definitely get a call from a company called Colorado River Adventures. This company will get your information from you RV dealer. They are a Membership based camping Resort. This company is based in Parker, Arizona. You will get a call from one of the sales representatives offering you to visit one of their (5) resorts for (2-3) nights for free, they will offer you (20) nights of additional free camping as a trial membership at any of their resorts after your visit, $50.00 gift and $100.00 gas card. They will not ask you for any sort of credit card; they will only ask you to provide them with a date to start your trip and the desire location/resort. They will promptly send you a confirmation in the mail and you will be confirmed. All you have to do is attend a (90) minute presentation. Great dealhuh?

We decided to go to the closest resort; Cherry Valley Lakes in Beaumont, California. First, because the (3) resorts we were actually interested in, were closed for the season and since our schedules were hectic and we didn't have the time to take too long of a trip, We figured that we would go there for the weekend, attend the presentation to find out all the specifics and pricing and will later use the additional Free Camping to visit the other resorts to check them out before purchasing the membership. We also thought that we could use the gas money to pay for the trip there and back and the $50 for groceries or something, so it all sounded great. We made not one, but several phone calls and the original representative, Rafael, Donna and the Manager, Jared, assured us that it was a good idea, that they just wanted us to have the opportunity to experience the resorts before purchasing.

Ironically, two family members received the same phone call as they had also recently purchased/Upgraded an RV / Trailer. One of the family members decided to come on the same dates with their own RV to find out about the resorts. We figured we could get a better deal if three families purchased the membership.

Once we got there, it wasnice, but we wouldn't never chosen that resort. You are along the freeway and there is absolutely nothing to do, especially if traveling with kids. Don't let the brochures fool you. It was small and, not our typical camping get away, but we were there mainly to attend the presentation and get the specifics and pricing.

Our (90) minutes presentation, turned into 2 hours and 45 minutes. Everything sounded just great. The other resorts were really good and we were really looking forward to visiting them, we were about 90% sold on the whole deal, including the other family member. Right about the 2 hours and 35 minutes mark, we were told that: The additional (20) free camping nights HAD to be at that specific resort ONLY; We could only use the free nights every 60 days in between, Weekends and Holidays were excluded, we also had to use (5) consecutive nights and we were not allowed to divide them. Meaning that if you use (3) nights only, it will be considered (5). We told them that it was not the way it was explained to us, not to mentioned that the other family member got the same exact information, as well as having all of it in the confirmation letter mailed to us. They told us that there was nothing they could do, that they used to let people visit their other resorts before purchasing, but they stopped that offer (9) years ago.

At that point, they just straight up asked us if we were going to buy or not, we told them not at that very moment because of the false information. Right at that moment, they handed us the gifts, got up and left us sitting there. We were stunned!

The resorts are family owned, so if they had a chance to make $21,000.00 in one presentation, what was the big deal right? Not to mentioned, it was promised to us and we had it on a confirmation Letter

They gave us the instructions on how to get the $100.00 REBATE for gas. Yeah, it was not a gas card as they said. We have to mail-in receipts from a specific gas station, but you can't send a receipt for $100.00, or two of $50.00, you are only allowed to send a receipt for the maximum of $25.00 per month, which it means that you will not get the $100.00 for (4) months.

It was not worth the drive at all.

They did give us a $50.00 checkjust about the only truthful thing.

Once we got home, I decided to call the Sales representative and the Manager in Parker Arizona, but I didn't get anywhere, he straight up told me that it was too bad we didn't like the resort, he wished me a nice day and hung up on me

So, just make sure you get all the information, facts before committing to Anything, I do have it in writing, but it didn't help, they just didn't care.

I guess they didn't want to make a saletoo bad for them.

I found the whole deal Misleading and Deceptive.

Trial Memberships Are Not Full Membersips

First of all I would like to state that because I do not have a name, I cannot address this complaint with specifics. So, I will address it in general terms.

I see that you understood the initial terms of our marketing offer. That being said, you should also understand that our trial (and free I might add) membership is a limited rendition of our full membership. Of course, we cannot offer for free the same membership privileges we give to our dues paying members. It is however a legitimate limited membership. We have hundreds of people, like yourself, who have opted not to purchase and who make use of the same membership you were given. I am sorry it was not to your expectations.

There is a point in every presentation that you are asked to purchase. After two hours and forty-five minutes it probably was time. You state your answer was no; that you were given your gifts and that was that. You also state you were stunned. Did you expect to be high pressured?

The gas rebate certificate you were given is just that, a rebate. As with all rebates, you are expected to follow some guidelines and then you receive your compensation. We fulfill this rebate ourselves to the tune of over $200,000.00 per year. Follow the steps and you will get your money.

I am not sure why you called the corporate office, or why you are complaining. You booked a presentation, attended, said no and received your gifts. If you wanted to buy you would have said YES!

I happen to be a member of CRA...and I think you were looking for one little reason NOT to buy.  Let's face it, if you really wanted to become a member and enjoy CRA's campgrounds you wouldn't have "thrown the baby out with the bathwater."

I, too, got my first taste of CRA through our visitation of the Cherry Valley "resort."  I'd be the first to agree with you that the Cherry Valley campground is nothing to write home about -- but we live only about 40 miles away, so it actually makes a nice quick getaway.  Truth be told, it's our least favorite in the system...but, like I said, we actually use it more than the others (we both still work) because we can get away and spend time there...together...alone.  There's something to be said for that.

Our favorite CRA park is KQ Ranch down by Julian, CA.  Next would be the Havasu Springs Resort...gorgeous!

I'm sorry you wouldn't allow yourself the flexibility of how to get the $100 freebie -- or at least let it become the deal-breaker.  As far as their not allowing you more flexibility as to how to visit other parks...if you were a member, you'd appreciate what they are doing in this matter.  There are, and should be, benefits to being a member.

Now, we are anxiously awaiting the Pismo Beach cabins!  We've added them to our membership and can't wait for a relaxing stay up on the Central California Coast.  So far, we enjoy all that CRA has to offer.
