I smelled an odor of gas, so I called the gas company. They told me to leave the premises, so I left them with a number that they could reach me at. When they came out to check my meter, they broke the meter stop when they tried to get the nut of.

After they broke the meter stop they wrote me note saying that I had to call a plumber to fix the problem, test lines & to update the meter to code. I had a plumber come over & he told me that it should not be my responsiblity due to the fact that when the service rep for the gas co. came out, he broke the stop.

So I called the gas co. back & told them what the plumber had told me, they told me that it was not their problem, the meter stop belongs to me so it is up to me to have it fixed. Called PUCO & they basically told me the same thing. Said the gas co did not break the meter stop so therefore I need to get it fixed. I do not feel that it should be my responsibility to get it fixed since the gas co broke it.
