I agree with what you stated in your general comment that was posted on August 16, 2011. We certainly do live in an era of flawed ethics. Our country is decaying right in front of everybody's eyes, but the ones at the top are becoming fabulously wealthy as a result of all the fraud and corruption that is taking place inside the many corporations whose only objective is to make profits.

I believe that exposing all of the problems on the worldwide web is one of the best ways that we can change the system for the better. A Harvard Business Professor told his class of executives in late 2004 that exposure is a corporation's worst fear. The last time I spoke to Comcast Cable was over the summer, and at that time I requested all of my back statements for an attorney to review. To date, I have still not received the back statements, which isn't a surprise because Comcast doesn't come through on anything they promise.

As for my case being an "exception to the rule," well, that simply isn't the case, and you might consider rereading all of my complaints. If you go back through and read my prior posts in full, you will see that I found out Comcast knew fully they were experiencing billing problems; they were having these problems due to a system conversion problem from the South to the Midwest, and they attempted to cover it up. I might add that the Midwest consists of 12 states, with who knows how many people being affected by Comcast's billing problems in each state, which explains why they have not sent my all of my back statements; they know their is a huge problems and they are worried about a class action lawsuit, since I plan on scanning these statements, with my personal information removed, and placing them onto Rip Off report for people to see exactly where I was billed incorrectly, as well as the continued bills after I received written notification of Comcast picking up my equipment.

Are all cable and satellite providers bad to some degree? Yes they are. But the rest do not hold worst CSI rating in the United States, right above the IRS. I mean my God, the company had to change names just to run away from the bad reputation of Comcast's name! Have I had some problems with AT&T? Yes, but nothing in comparison to Comcast Cable. I'd be willing to bet that anyone that posts positive things in rebuttal to this post is an employee of NBC or Comcast or Infinity, only trying to do damage control over what is a really bad P/R situation. I would highly suggest that anyone out there having a problem with Comcast/Infinity request back statements, and if the request is not received to report the company to your local BBB, state Attorney General, as well as the FTC and FCC. Believe me, it is worth the time and effort. Also, think about switching service as well. You can get the same quality cable, internet, and phone with just about any other provider, plus you won't have to worry about the headache of dealing with their employees and incessant billings problems. I'd honestly rather have no phone, cable, or internet than to deal with Comcast/Infinity ever again.

There are many possible reasons why your experience with Comcast may be different to those of us who have had the misfortune of having to file consumer reports. Perhaps you are financially more sound and as such have not been given much pause by a large bill. Maybe you're among the people that Comcast is not bilking out of money with false charges and poor customer service.

Either way, your claim of not being fouled by a company that has warranted a lengthy outcry from many consumers all across the nation is neither here nor there. What should raise an eyebrow, or cause some pang of sympathy is the fact that for every one person who comes forward like you with an alright experience, there are easily hundreds of others with eerily  similar/consistent complaints of corporate misdeeds.

I take issue with your reasoning, that we-the- people have nothing better to do than go through these annoying bureaucratic hoops in order to seek justice for the American consumer, simply because in your own experience you see no personal issue with YOUR service. So long as YOU aren't bothered, you seem to be content with all these other people being screwed over.

We live in an era of flawed ethics. Corporations are fleecing some of the poorest people out of what little they have, and our only recourse is to complain until someone takes note of our collective disapproval.

I finally cancelled service with Comcast Cable back in January of 2011 due to the continued billing problems, and more specifically that they knew about their system conversion probelm from the south to the midwest and did nothing about it. But the problems only continued after I cancelled service.



I switched to ATT U-Verse and called Comcast to cancel my service the day ATT was out to install. The Comcast representative I spoke to offered to send a technician out to pick up the equipment, and someone came out at the beginning of February to pick up the equipment; and more importantly, they left me with a pink slip verifying they had picked up everything, confirming my service was terminated.



Approximately three months later, I received a bill from Comcast; it was to the tune of $600, and it billed me for Fenruary, March, and April. I didn't have service any of these months. I called Comcast to find out why they were still billing me and the representative I spoke with stated they had no record of my cancelation, and no record of my phone call. I advised them they must have a record, considering they sent out a technician to pick up the equipment and left me with written confirmation that the equipment was turned in. When the representative did more research, specifically with their legal department,  they finally found my cancelation notice; and I was advised by the representative that all the money would be refunded to my account immediately.



About one week later, I logged onto Comcast's system to make sure my bill was at a zero balance; it wasn't. They only credited my bill for $140, which wasn't even a full months service. I had to place a second call to Comcast and this representative stated a supervisor would call me back about the billing problem. No one called. Once again I had to file an Attorney General, FTC, and BBB complaint.



I received notification from the BBB, about three weeks later, that they had received correspondence from Comcast' legal department claiming the problem was cleared up and the account was at a zero b alance. I wasn't. I had to send another follow up letter to the BBB stating Comcast never sent me confirmation the account was at a zero balance and their online system still reflected one. After that I finally conversed with someone in their legal department, who zeroed the balance out, and sent me written confirmation. I have requested all of my bills from Comcast Cable, from 2009-2010, for an attorney to review, and so far only 2010's statements were mailed to me. That request has been over 30 days now, so it looks like I'll need to file another report since I can't get my statements online (they completely locked me out of logging in).



To boot, I can't even check my previous e-mail or log in; and I've been told by ATT that per FCC standards Comcast, or any other e-mail provider, is required to allow customers to continue to log on and receive e-mail (not send) for up to one year so peope unaware of the e-mail change can still send e-mails and find out your new e-mail address when you open your previous one. So I guess this is another FCC complaint in itself.



Comcast has to be one of the worst providers out there. If you are having problems, please report them to the proper agencies so they can be dealt with from a legal standpoint. And please, don't post anything on this complaint as a rebuttal, etc, that is stupid; such as referring people to read a stupid poem about NBC. People like you, when you do things like this, deflect atttention from the real matter at hand; the matter is billing problems.

Although I do appreciate people reading my letter about Comcast cable, and their billing practices, I would appreciate it if you could please refrain from linking material that is not relevant to my case. My complaint, while valid and legitimate, is not a political complaint and complaints of this nature should be made seperate from my report. The allegations that certain people are attaching to my complaint are specious at best and are not relevant to my case, and when you post things like this to my link you only diminish the value of this case in point because people look at your posts and just laugh to themselves. This company, as well as other companies like them, need to be attacked on grounds that are pursuable in the eyes of our judicial system; not attacks that, are again, specious at best.

This complaint on Rip Off report, that I made, was to alert customers to the billing problems Comcast is experiencing so that they can file their own report or have additional ammunition if they need to file their own BBB and Atorney General Complaint. As I stated before, please refrain from commenting on my link unless it is directly related to their billing problems or other problems that can be addressed through our legal system. Posting purely political smear campaigns, on this link, or others on Rip Off report, aren't relevant and it is unethical.

If you don't like the way our current news channels are reporting, please report them to the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) and investigate the reform act by the FCC that caused this mess (back in approximately 2002). This act allows a media source to own approximately 42% of a marketshare (in any city) and includes the news, newspapers, and radio. Over 500,000 people wrote to the FCC, objecting to the reforms passage, because they believed it would create problems (like the ones we are experiencing today). Democrats and Republicans both adamently opposed the bill (Such as Trent Lott and Tom Daschle), but it managed to get pushed through anyway and was ultimately approved by then FCC head Michael Powell (Colin Powell's son) and signed into legislation by George W. Bush. If you want the media to change, not only NBC, but FOX, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS, you need to write to the FCC and get others to do the same in order to attempt to repeal the legislation. Our current news media is essentially an oligopoly.

I have incurred additional billing errors with Comcast cable since my original complaint, and the problems that I have had are not a reflection of how "I" handle my account; rather it is a reflection on Comcast's poor billing system and customer service.

I have renegotiated my monthly bill since the last post. After the renegotiation, I noticed brand new billing errors. On of switch included being "BILLED TWICE" for HD TV service and "TWICE" for internet service. I called Comcast, and they took off the HD TV charge of approximately $7 per month but refused to take off the other billing charges because the bill, they said, only appeared that it was charged twice and it was not actually done. In other words they are incorrectly itemizing the statements in addition to all the other problems they are having. Once again, I sent a letter to the Attorney General and BBB to alert them of Comcast's ongoing billing problems. I received a call from Comcast's regulatory office, almost immediately, stating that the company has been experiencing ongoing billing problems because of a problematic billing system conversion in this area. These "billing problems" with Comcast have been going on for more than two years now, at NO FAULT OF THE CUSTOMERS that have been subjected to their slipshod system. I agree that there are negatives with most satellite and cable providers, but Comcast takes the grand prize in this case. I've not only had the dish, in the past, but also Time Warner (when I lived in another area) and I never experienced problems to this magnitude with other service providers. Comcast has been required to credit my account, by the Attorney General's office of Kansas, FOR ALL OF MY COMPLAINTS. I'm guessing the person that logged onto Rip Off report, and stood up for the company, is probably an employee. If that is the case, the system requires that you identify yourself as an employee and you should not be stating that you are a customer . . . literally. That is not only unethical, but revolting and transparent to all readers of this complaint.

Each and every cable, phone, internet, Satellite TV provider has numerous reports here on ROR.com.

So according to you consumers, each and every provider out there that has satellite, cable, internet, phone, etc all suck and no one should be using any of them?????

I personally like Comcast for their internet.  I have never had any issues with the service and if I do have to call in, the service has always been top notch and any issues were quickly resolved.

Most complaints about these companies usually fall on the irresponsiblity of consumers and NOT the companies themselves.

I live in PA and this company is a disgrace. Everyone I know has said the same complaints as you. This company charged me for a year for a Comcast magazine that I never ordered. When I called they did give me back my money and on top of everything they are now showing up on my credit report I have called there over twenty times and have spent over 29 hours on the phone with this company. And every employee states that I do not have a balance and they do not know how this happened. The last ten times that I have called I let them know I was recording the conversation and I am giving them to the end of next week to provide a letter stating I do not have a balance, if they do not I plan to file suit.
