ok, comcast fixed some wirings on our ceilings on nov.07 '07... several days before that, comcast first went to our house checking on what are the problems on our cable,internet and phone... (we had no service for 1day,so we called them and they came the next day.) the ocean cable (which was a contractor for comcast) guy said to us that the wires above our ceilings need to be fixed that's why we often times loose our reception.

so he said he's goin to have it scheduled... but, before we allow him to do that, my husband asked him if we are going to pay any damages if they do their work. the cable guy said, no! we are not going to be charged for it because it's comcast wiring problems and not ours. so, my husband agreed for another visit from them. nov, 07 came and they fixed it... there were two guys who were here, my husband said... and after they fixed everything they always let us sign the yellow paper, which my husband did that day without telling him what was written on it.

when i received our comcast bill, i was shocked of our total, it was $130.62. they charged us for the wiring jobs that the ocean cable did! i called them about it and said the whole story to them about what the cable guy said that we will not pay for anything! so they made a report, after 10days i called them again and they said that we were not credited for that! they said that we should pay because we signed the paper that the cable guy gave to my husband! i was so angry about that! the total charges for that day was $51.51 and i asked them, what did they do to charge us with that amount? they said that we should wait for the letter from them stating about what we were charged! and until now we haven't receive the letter yet! it's been 2wks now and still no letter from them.

i already paid the cable,internet and phone charges but i did not pay the extra $$$ that they charged us! i am not stupid! i know that the ocean cable group in ocean city,nj charged us for something that we didn't know that we were supposed to be charged of! i looked for the copy of the paper that my husband signed, it was a yellow paper which we receive everytime comcast people come to our house. it says there that we were charged for the work that the other guy did with the wirings! i said to myself, that's why comcast is charging us, because the oceancable group wanted to make money and charged us for their work which is not in our knowledge and that we are the ones to shoulder it!

i told comcast that we will not pay the $51.51! we are not stupid to pay for something that was comcast's fault! the wirings are their problem and whoever does the job, whether 2 or 3 people doesn't matter because it's their fault not ours, and we are not the ones who will pay for the job that other people did for them! maybe because they only pay one cable guy to fix things, so when the ocean cables group came here with 2 guys, comcast didn't want to pay the other guy who did the wiring problems so they charged it to us! nice try comcast! we, are not going to pay for it!

ocean cable group is a joke, I personally know of several people that are on heavy narcotics on the job, one was so bad he left the company truck in atlantic city and went on a drug binge and showed up in cali a week later. I don't know if the company keeps files on this but if so check it out. they do not enforse their drug testing policy at all, if they even have one. start testing your employees. and regardless of the reasons I post this, all is true. if you knew half the stuff that goes on with their employees you would swear they have been on jerry springer. i guess a tech job must be very stressful with all the drug and alcohol abuse. make your drug testing records public if you have any that is.

I think the main point was missed here. Personally, I can't really feel sorry for someone who signs anything without reading it first and then complains after the fact, but the original post stated the whole complaint was the original technician quoted the issue causing the problem in their home was the provider's fault and further explained that there would be no charge to repair it because of that fact.
Don't get me wrong Joe08c6, your response was pretty close to accurate as i can't think of a single utility company that takes responsibility after the service feed meets the residence, but she's complaining about false advertisement/wrongful billing. Again, the original argument is kind of moot at this point since someone representing the customer signed acknowledgment for the very charges that they are complaining about.

i understand that this is a very old topic i just wanted to shed some light on this. Ocean cable and comcast were not in the wrong for charging you for replacing wiring inside your home the only wiring that comcast will replace free of charge are outside service lines before the service actaully gets inside of your home. All of the cable wiring INSIDE of your home is yours you own it when you buy or rent the house in which you live the same as if you had faulty electrical wires in your home or had to replace water pipes or heaters. These are all things that you are responsible for upkeeping and the companys that are giving you service will not replace for free. Employees at ocean cable are paid peace work and do not get paid for replacing any wiring with out charging the customer or it already being charge and taken care off on the work order itself. This is about as far from a "rip off" as you could get you had work done in your home and paid for it just as you would with any other company.
