 They are running a con operation with their stay 2 nights and receive 1 free. I signed up at the program in Jonesville, NC after I was happy with the stay and was offer this special. Since I’m constantly traveling by car between FL and NJ, this would be a perfect half trip stay. After 2 stays I called up to make reservation for the free night, but I was told I earned 8000 points with my stays and the hotel needs 10,000 pts for a free night. This was even the same hotel where I signed up and spent my stay!

They never told me at sign up there is a different point system for different hotels. The main customer service line didn’t want to take any responsibility and told me they couldn’t add any point to my account and the only resolution is to pick a hotel which requires 8000 point or less for a free night. I contacted the hotel directly to get this issue resolve. I talked the manager Vanessa, who didn’t help at all. She was saying it’s all by the corporation, so she is unable to do anything.

I called back customer service where the next representative was more knowledgeable and informed me, if a create an online account I will be able to purchase the extra points, so he could make my reservation for the free stay. He didn’t offer anything else to make a customer happy, but at least helped solve the issue at the moment. With this kind of business technique I don’t think they are giving customer service. They are just ripping off travelers. This false advertisement for a free night is a fraud! They don’t give you the information up front. They are lying and don’t take care of their customers.

After all the aggravation they couldn’t even offer the solution to make a customer happy. It could’ve been so simple. Just tell the customer don’t worry, create and account, purchase your 2000points for $22 and we will refund you the money. It’s not about the $22; it’s about the principal how they handled the situation. I will not have sleepless night, because I had to buy the extra points, but I definitely had very bad experience with Choice Hotels. I won’t recommend them to anyone.
