Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Community Aid is the absolute WORST place I've ever worked.  I've worked a three places in my whole life including Community Aid.  My other two jobs were at a fast food joint and a daycare center.  Both paid more than Community Aid.  Community Aid only pays 7.50 an hour.

Let me tell you the reasons I hated working there.  There are many.  First off, I don't believe that HR properly told me what the job would be like or really even what would be expected of me.  The interview happened instantly right after I filled out the application and I was asked to start the same day.  I couldn't.  I started the next day instead.  They are REALLY hard up for help and I found out later why that is.

I didn't receive proper training.  My "trainer", if that's what you want to call her, was flighty and too silly to really do a very good job training me.  She'd show me something and I'd go to try doing it.  I'd do it and turn around only to see that the "trainer" was long gone.  Then if I had a question, I couldn't find her.  It's like she was hiding.

Another reason I didn't like working there was because of how inconsiderate management was to me as a new employee.  There I was on my first day, wearing my uniform and trying to figure out what to do.  The manager on duty that day saw me at least twice and never said a word.  I didn't even know he was the manager.  He didn't even so much as say hello or welcome me in any way.

Then there's the big-wig, Glenn Chandler.  I saw him a bunch of times before I even realized just who he was.  He owns the place.  He saw me as many times as I saw him in my first few weeks.  Never a word, an introduction, nothing.  The only time he did say something to me was when a clothing item had fallen on the floor once.  He said "pick that up".  They were the only three words he ever said to me.

While I worked there, I witnessed employees being rude to customers many times, especially Glenn.  He never seemed to be happy.  He was grumpy and had a nasty expression on his face all the time.

The work itself was VIGOROUS.  I was expected to put out wracks and wracks of clothes in a shift...thousands of items of clothes.  Also, I had to put back everything from the fitting rooms and straighten clothes the whole time.  I wasn't even allowed to go to the bathroom.  All this with no encouragement and pretty much no training.

I hated it and I finally quit.  Now they said I'm not even allowed to shop there anymore.

As an ex-employee of community aid of Mechanicsburg, when I dropped off my uniform shirts and saw Glenn, he said nothing to me like good luck to you or thank you for your service. He says he is a real christian person and that is hard to believe. He never told me I was doing a good job. It was always picking on what I needed to do. He is a poor leader and does not how to approach people. He has poor people skills. He has security cameras everywhere as if he cares about the security of his employees. Its more for him to watch his employees so they do not steal from him. When an employee is called into the office, we all yell, "It was nice knowing you." Why are people afraid of him...He is such a JOKE...just like the rest of the management staff and HR Kristen... Never work there... You will regret it.

What was stated in this situation is so true, being an ex-employee. Their training is so poor in some areas. The managers walk around like they are lost .One manager named Tonya had a employee tell her that she had a few beers in the parking lot. Manager Tonya said, "If I don't smell it, you are OK." WOW, this is a manager. Tom who worked at Mcdonalds is Glenn's puppet. He walks around and he seems to be lost. Its like you can be replaced. HR is a joke. There have no idea on how to manage people. Community Aid feels there are better than Goodwill and Salvation Army. They push you and push you with no encouragement. If you paln to apply there, DON'T...you will reget it.
