Community Reading Club Of Virginia, Inc. False Subscriptions Billings in Excess of $475--Did not order magazines Virginia Beach Virginia
Received a letter on 4/18 dated 4/13 from Community Reading Club of Virginia, Inc. I have never heard of this company and have placed no magazine orders with them or anyone else. The letter states "this is not a contract" but goes on to note: "..holder of this consumer credit contract is subject to all claims..." and telling me that I have subscribed for Benefit Package 2 and owe them $39.95 monthly due the 1st of each month, for a total of $479.40. I tried to call when I received the letter; recorded message tells me to call back during business hours. My telephone records show no call from 866-469-xxxx during the period when this order would have been placed.
I believe this is a rip-off to coerce mature adults to commit to payments out of fear of financial insecurity.
