Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went to CompUSA to get some computer help, and they said they would send someone out. After the guy was sent out it was from www.computerrepair.com or now www.onforce.com apparently they let violent criminals work for them as a person convicted for rape was sent to my house. 6 months after this I recieved a lien on my house from where computer repair didn't pay the contractor.

As an Onforce provider I can tell you first hand the only thing required to sign up is a SS# (for 1099) and a valid phone #, no ID (like a DL) is required. Also the background checks & drug tests are only peformed when an employee-contractor requests and pays for them. For the majoraity of employee-contractors there is not enough work generated by Onforce (not to mention the rock bottom pay offered) to justify the cost of the BG/Drug tests, hence most contractors do not have them performed. Onforce's mission is to build a national workforce of contractors who will work for the lowest possible wages to lower IT prices for Onforce clients. Onforce is nothing more than IT-ebay, the work orders are sent to multiple contractors in the area and the person who accepts the lowest pay shows up at your site, beyond taking a cut for providing a workforce and online payment system Onforce has nothing else to do with the work performed, they are just a middleman.

I totally understand your greivance with my company, but I can assure that it is not an everday occurance. When a technician applies for the onforce system, they are required to give their liscence number, and other references of that nature. Unfirtunately, because they are not directly working for our company, we can not legally do a background check. They can apply, and accept and deny jobs accordingly. I personally work in the western division, and fortunately we have not had any problems like this arise. A suggestion though, ask the associate in the store if they could recommend someone from the technician list, and they will always refer you to someone very reliable. Also, if the gentleman was not paid by CompUSA, I can also garauntee that they learned of his past dealings and promptly dropped him from our services. I no that this is of no consellation to you at the moment, but I hope this will rest others fears of our services.

I am a contractor who obtains some work from Onforce.com. I am also a retired Navy veteran with more than 18 years experience in my field and no criminal record. It is unfortunate that you had a bad experience. Onforce.com has something like 15,000 active provider and client accounts and does an incredible amount of daily business. I say this just to say that in any town of 15,000 people or more, there will be some criminals. Aside from your reported criminal record for the contractor, a mechanics lien is a lawful process for a contractor who is owed money. Unless you were attacked or threatened by the contractor, your issue is with CompUSA for failing to compensate the contractor and sending a convicted felon into your home. CompUSA may even be sued if any criminal activity occured as a result. The lien should be settled if you need to sell your home immediately (it's a very small amount, I'm sure) and you may sue CompUSA in small claims for any and all related costs later. As for background checks, Onforce.com doesn't do them, but individual Onforce.com clients like CompUSA CAN require them. I have personally been checked by Equant and 2 others I work with regularly. Finally, just like any other segment of our society, the large base of folk involved with Onforce.com and CompUSA are just trying to make an honest living. I'm sorry that you have met one of the few bad apples out there. Just know that CompUSA isn't the only company using unchecked contractors (about 600 I know of at this point) and Onforce.com isn't the only place they can find work.

Most consumer complaints are because the consumer expects more than what they actually get. First I do on-site computer repairs for Onforce and CompUSA and have yet to have an issue with a consumer or Onforce. Every Provider that works for Onforce is an Independant Contractor and although our actions when dealing with the clients and the consumer do reflect back to Onforce they are not to blame because of one consumer who has a complaint. I for one do not agree with RipOff report in allowing people to post their grievances in an open forum without first verifying that the info that is being posted is accurate. The post by the individual sounds more like a disgruntaled Provider than by a consumer since in most states to file a lien against some one costs more money than what the job paid in the first place.

Your post offers little in the way of background information How do you know that the person was convicted of rape? Did he offer this info freely? Was there a problem with the service itself? It sounds like a contractors lien was placed against your home--did you refuse to pay CompUSA after service was performed?
