I found ConsumerDataLeads.com on the interenet while searching for a list provider of 30-60-90 day mortgage late leads. This data can only be obtained from one of the three credit reporting agency's under certain restrictions with respect to direct mail marketing. I spoke with the Manager who introduced himself as "Bob" and later found out his name is John Dancy.
We started purchasing what we thought were current list in September of 2014 with the names of homeowners who were behind in their mortgage payment from 1-3 months. After six months and thousands of dollars in mailing, printing and marketing cost for media such as letters and postcards sent to the list, we did not receive any response or leads of any significance. I then sent one of the list to a person in the mortgage brokerage business who deals with credit late list all the time. He indicated that the list we were being sold as "30-60-90 dat late list" were in fact the same list he purchases for marketing mortgage and refinance loans to. The list contains the property APN number in the first column which is never included in a Consumer list associated with late mortgage payments. In other words, John Dancy was adding a column at the end of a normal list of property owners who have a mortgage with the title "Days Late" and then entering a 30-60 or 60-90 or 90+ in the box. In fact there is no 90+ designation used by credit agencies, only 90-120, 150 etc.
Another RED flag was noticed when we placed our third order. The policy was that you specified the county and State that you wanted a list for. You then provided credit card details for payment along with a maximum dollar value not to be exceeded. I placed the amount of $1,000 for the 3rd order as it included five counties. I then noticed that my credit card had been charged for the full $1,000 amount even though the number of leads at .30 cents per lead equalled a total of $459. I went back and checked the previous order and found out that it also was debited for the full $500 maximum even though the list cost should have been $180. In fact, that credit was never adjusted for with the $1,000 order and we now had a credit due of almost $900.
I called "Bob" (John Dancy) and asked him what was going on. He gave me a ridiculous reason as to why he charged the full authorized maximum as opposed to the actual cost based on the number of records produced. I told him I wanted a credit back and he stated that he could not give us a refund but would credit the balance with subsequent orders. That means he would be holding our money for several months between orders, which was a complete rip-off. I sent letters in writing requesting a refund for the balance with no response. He has a receptionist by the name of Elizabeth but I think she is clueless that her boss is a con-man and fraud.
I did a full background report on this company and his "registered agent" Bruce Nuttall, a CPA in Anaheim. John Edward Dancy (((redacted))) is a "thief" who has Federal Tax Liens, 4 judgements and 15 individual liens by individuals he has ripped-off and small claims court cases against him. We have had no contact with Bruce Nuttall but it is suggested that he is just as bad by association.
We are going to go after both of these frauds with a social media campaign, complaints filed with the State of California, Secretary of State, California Board of Accountancy and all business organizations in the State. They can run but they can't hide! As of this writing I filed a complaint with my Banks Visa Card division and was refunded $1,200 based on receiving fraudulent products. The website for ConsumerDataLeads.com no longer works and I am sure they will reappear under some other name and continue cheating people out of their money. Our laws are weak and not at all strong enough to deter thiefs from consumer fraud like this. Sure you can spend $10,000 on legal fee's and get what is called a "Judgement" against the company or crook but the fact John Dancy already has four judgements against him tells you that that is not a deterent and does absolutely no good.
