     This company is a complete scam and rip off! DO NOT USE THEM. I booked a 7 night stay at the Hilton Palmer House for a 2 bed 2 bath executive suite room through them. $259.00 per night + a previously undisclosed $60 per night "surcgarge" I was unhappy about the $60 per night and felt is was shady, but I was conceding to that and didn't dispute as they had already charged my card $2300.  1 week before travel, I incidentally called the Palmer House to add an additional room to the reservation. Thank goodness I called! The Palmer House, (a fantastic hotel by the way, I stay there every year), told me there was a problem with my reservation based on information I had given her. They reserved 6 nights instead of 7. (we were supposed to sleep in lobby the last night?) and they booked a single bed room, not in the executive suites. When I called they were the rudest most disrespectful insulting, hateful people I think I have ever dealt with!!!! Absolutely horrible in every single way. Said they had the GM and their lawyer in the room and I was on speaker. Which, I didn't care, but it wasn't true, just a bunch of slimy reps that were laughing at me as he continued to insult me, telling me how stupid I was and that I knew nothing about making a reservation, that the Palmer House was wrong, (I have confirmation from them ). Absolutely THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Charge back!!! I had to make my own room reservation in order to get accomodations. I'm now about $4000 into 1 room for 7 nights, but no worries, I WILL GET MY MONEY BACK!  They say they pre-pay their rooms, they don't. Booked us the cheapest room in the hotel when we paid for one the best. CROOKS with no respect and no morals!!

Update April 24, 2013, from CHS Contracts Manager.

Although it was unecessary to file a chargeback with the credit card company, this consumer did so anyway, and today we were advised by the credit card company that the chargeback has been closed in favor of Convention Housing Services.

I am the (relatively) new Contracts Manager at Convention Housing Services.  I am also the lawyer who actually was in the room (along with our General Manager, who really was there as well) during the telephone conversation mentioned by Susanne C.   What she does not include in her post is that within minutes of speaking with her, we determined that CHS would refund her money in total and I telephoned her immediately to advise her of that decision.  She refused to take my calls, even when I left messages as to the nature of my call.  Susanne C also does not mention that we refunded her credit card in full the next morning, without any chargeback being necessary. 

We are not perfect, and we sometimes make mistakes, although this mistake easily could have been  corrected with open communication. (Susanne C did not initially express her displeasure directly to CHS, but posted on Facebook instead; we took the initiative to give her an opportunity to discuss this matter with us.) The surcharge, by the way, is for hotel taxes and service fees, which are charged by every seller of travel, primarily as a convenience so the traveler does not have to pay taxes or service fees at check-out, and is referenced in our one-page contract that customers review before they sign.  And we do pre-pay for rooms.

CHS supports everyones right to express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with any interaction with CHS, but asks that each story be told completely, truthfully and without resorting to name-calling.  CHS has thousands of satisfied customers, many of whom book through us over and over again, and we are very proud of our customer service team members, who receive private, if not always public, compliments and thank-yous for their efforts.
