Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On 6/1/2010, had ACE AIR to my home in Scottsdale to diagnose a down AC unit and to inspect 3 other AC units I have which were working properly.  The tech quickly diagnosed the down unit as having a bad compressor and indicating that he strongly recommended a new unit.  I was at work so he tried to hard sell my wife on a new unit and then got me on the phone to hard sell me a unit.  He started out at $11,000 and got down to $7,000 over a half hour time period.  This just didn't smell right to me so I thanked him and said we would think about it.

At the same time they inspected our other three functioning units indicating they needed about $1,500 in repair.  Although, they could forego that cost if I signed a 5 year service contract for around $2,100.  This was hard sold to both my wife and myself, unfortunately I eventually agreed.

The next day I had a reputable AC company Premier Service out to my house to evaluate the downed unit.  They indicated the unit simply newed some new capacitors and could be fixed for around $600.  In addition, the tech indicated the unit had 4.5 years left on the warranty (previous tech has told me warranty was expired).

At this point I contacted ACE AIR they offered to send another tech out to check the previously down unit.  The next day he came out and indicated inded there was nothing wrong with it and the warranty is a common sense item any tech should have known to check.  Subsequent, to that called back ACE AIR, they admitted the mis-diagnose and told me I wasn't harmed since I didn't buy the new compressor or AC unit.  Basically, they offered to refund me nothing.

Summary, don't do business with this comapny their fraudulent and even when they admit there in the wrong they want step up to make it right.  Essentially, I'm out over $2,000 for work that most likely didn't need done on the other 3 units and have a 5 year service contract with a company I can't trust.
