Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My next door neighbor is 89 years old and I help him with his daily affairs. Last week his a/c was blowing hot so he called cool ace air as he has a 5 year service contract with them. When the service man examined the system, he determined that the capacitor had blown and he installed a new one. However when he restarted the a/c, the fan at the compressor was blowing backwards. I watched him fiddle with the wiring for about 5 minutes, restarting the system several times, with the fan going backwards each time. He then announced that the motor was blown, and that a new motor would cost $565.00.

I am not an a/c expert but I know the only way for a motor to run backwards is because the wiring is backwards, period. A blown motor does not run backwards. The technician informed my neighbors daughter that he would call her in the morning and see what the company would do, as the system was under a service contract.

The next morning he called, and the daughter informed him that her a/c tech informed her there was no way a motor will run backwards unless it is wired backwards. The tech responded that the burned motor was now "running on its own polarity" and needed to be replaced. He then offered to sell a new a/c system and apply all the money spent on the system in the last 2 years toward the purchase price. She declined.

I had my own a/c man come out, he wired the capacitor correctly and the fan worked as it was supposed/ That day I looked at the receipt for the work ace had done for my neighbor last summer and saw this. He was charged $199.00 for a 30 dollar capacitor.
He was charged $179.00 for a 15 dollar 1 pole contactor. He was charged $163.00 for a "lubekit". There is no such thing as a lubekit for an a/c system, and in any case this system uses greaseless bearings.

This company blatantly overcharged my neighbor for parts that may not have even been needed, or that did not exist. They blatantly miswired the fan in an attempt to sell a new fan,
Beware.
