I worked for Cool Cuts 4 Kids in thornton, colorado from may of 2004 to january of 2005. I decided to take on this job with the knowledge that some other co-workers of mine were already there. Dealing with screaming kids all day who kick at you and spit on you while their parents just giggle and tell the kid "oh stop doing that honey" in a nicey nice voice...I should've known what the hell I was getting myself into from the first day I walked to the door you could hear the screaming from 15 yards away!!! My hearing is now not what it used to be as I am only 28, but I have a hard time now because I was forced to cut hair on little brats that screamed in my ear. But nooo that wasn't the only joy to my job!!! I was told by the then manager AND the GM that all of my clients that followed me from my former job were allowed to have a $3 off coupon every single time they came in..I was told about 4 months later that I shouldn't have been giving out the $3 discount to my clients by the same GM Billie..okay so I stopped but a coworker of mine Eliza was still giving out that same discount to her clients..what the f***?!?! no biggie my clients paid full price I took the high road. Then in early january my client Mike came in and got a haircut from me and he paid, he then realized he didn't have cash to tip me and gave me a check for $10 the manager that was visiting asked me about it and I told her what happened...she then decided to tell the GM that he didn't pay and gave me the check that I pocketed. I was confronted on it and was suspended for 3 days...I told them what happened but no..Billie didn't want to hear it. She took the word of a manager over someone she had known for 5 years. I called on the last day of my suspension to find out when I worked next only to be told that I was terminated for stealing!! PLUS!! my coworkers Jessica and Eliza who used to be good friends refused to back me up on this matter...funny thing was..I found out that Jessica and Eliza really WERE stealing from the company and got fired as well. I caution anyone who wants to work at cool cuts 4 kids to rethink it!!! dealing with children for the crapass benefits and $10.50 an hour wage sure as hell isn't worth it to me..I now work in a great salon and I still cut kids' hair, but most are well mannered and I have the right to refuse them if they start being brats..and I make way more than $10.50!!!!

I realize that children aren't programmable robots and they are quite human...I completely understand that you can't always handle a situation of a child crying or being extremely upset......I'm talking about the people that have absolutely NO CONTROL over their 7 year old child that spits on me and kicks me or hits me while the parent does absolutely NOTHING about it and just smile at me but when I try to talk to the child and ask them "please stop" they then pipe up that I have no business telling the kid how to behave because its their child and thats after asking the parent to have the child stop and they've not done squat to help the situation. Sure I understand maybe its not my place to ask a kiddo to stop kicking my hands or slapping me, but when it comes to safety of that child and myself...I'd rather do that than have the super sharp scissors come flying out of my hand and landing in someone's skin(its happened before)  Maybe I did have a negative attitude when this was posted....but I let my anger towards the unfair boss, etc  go right after that and I'm sure if those who don't work a a stylist would put themselves in my shoes they might see why I was bitter that long ago at bad management, bad parents, bad kids. Am I a talentless idiot who butchers hair? maybe so! anyways, life goes on :))

I take my son to CC4K regularly.  My kid likes the place for some reason, that's why we go there.  Young kids are going to cry when they get their hair cut, it's just a fact of life.  Parents cannot force their kids to stop feeling upset or miserable when some talentless idiot is butchering their hair.  Kids are people, not programmable robots.

I take my child to Cool Cuts almost every 2 weeks and I am sure glad I don't have to deal with employees that think the way you do. Why are you working at a Cool Cuts 4 KIDS if you have a problem with KIDS. Your attitude is very negative and that is probably the real reason they let you go.

my point is this...the company isn't a good company to work for when your treated like that and yes I did wait 2 years to file this..why? because I didn't know about this website until now.
