Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Renting from this company is a bad idea. I noticed a few negative hits on them under Google Reviews and I'm surprised they haven't reported here. What this company likes to do is charge you for repairs. At first I didn't think much of it but now I think its because they want to discourage you from sending maintenance requests in the future. In the past, I always assumed landlords cover repairs. This is how all my other landlords responded to repair requests. These guys are different and they will find wierd ways to justify their charges. They also sometimes transfer fees; for example, if a repair person charged them a fee, they will forward that fee to you. This company is also eviction happy. When it comes to not paying rent, I can understand, but when it comes to fee disputes and stuff like that, I think it would be more appropriate to wait until move out. Instead, they will try terrify you into submission with eviction.

In short, don't rent with these guys. They're probably the worst landlords I've ever had. Its a lot of headache. Their customer service is also pretty rude. In contrast, their owner seems pretty nice. Hopefully he gets a better handle on his business soon.

Just to be clear:  if a repairman charges for an appointment that you set and then did not honor, that is what should be charged to you.  My apologies for not writing better.

You misrepresent the facts for your convenience.

We do not like to charge for repairs, but if you cause damage to a property, should you not be held responsible for it?  You state, "In the past, I always assumed landlords cover repairs." That is true: if your heater fails, for example, why should you be charged for that cost?  On the other hand, if you clog your toilet with a sanitary napkin or a teddy bear, why shouldn't you pay for the cost of that repair?

If a plumber or appliance repair person sets an appointment with you, to meet you, AT YOUR CONVENIENCE, to repair an issue you reported, why should you expect the landlord to pay for the cost of the service call if the appliance company charges for it?  How could this possibly be the landlord's fault?  Under those circumstances, it is really hard to see how you can consider it unfair that we should expect you to pay that bill.

This reads as though you think we are evil for doing our job: protect the property, protect the owner's interests.

Another important point about protecting the owner's interests:  How can it make sense to you that we would want to DISCOURAGE the reporting of issues?  Not repairing issues promptly invites increasing damage, greater entropy. Is it so we can cause you to leave?  Heck no: When you move out, it actually makes our job harder when we have to go through the effort of preparing the property for a new tenant.  We have to do a lot of marketing, deal with showings, screen new applications, write up a new lease, etc., etc. - we don't get paid extra for doing all that.  Plus, we have to deal with ridiculous grousing like the reviews you have posted in multiple locations.

The reason why we, and every other property management company on Earth, get bad reviews is because people like yourself don't take responsibility for their end of what is actually a relationship.  This isn't like writing up a review about a book or a hamburger, buddy.  You have obligations; it's a written agreement.  People like you use sites like this as a tool in negotiations, or just to try and stick a little knife in someone's back because you didn't get off scott-free.
