Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Corizon, formerly prison health services is always advertizing and looking for new people. Why is this? Perhaps it's because people don't stay there very long. Place has extremely high turnover because the employees are underpaid(you can get more money for your services practically anywhere else), over worked, considered expendable, and work in an extremely stressful environment. Also you have to be very careful what you say.... and keep your thoughts to yourself because someone you work with will go behind your back. Like with most other places. You will see things that will leave you traumatized. You will feel like your are working very hard, and be told you are not working hard enough. Also after you have put in your 8 hard hours, it's takes about 45 minutes to get off the Island. You have to wait for a bus to take you to the check out building, as they don't allow anyone to walk on the grounds. It is....after all a prison. The checkout building might be a 2 minute walk from where you work, but you will have to wait for the bus to take you. And the bus came whenever it felt like. 5 minutes, 10 minutes and sometimes 20-30 minutes. I don't think you want to be waiting for a bus at midnight in 20 degrees for a half hour for a bus. Then you have to walk thru the check out building and then you are finally out in the parking lot. But wait.....your not done yet! There is a line of cars because they make you pop open your trunk. I guess they figure you might be taking along an unwanted passenger. If you are a professional and used to a hospital or office environment...you will not make it here. The stress level is palpable. Inmates with no sense of boundaries getting into your face. Supervisors who treat you like cattle. It's obvious they couldn't care less about you....because they know they can get someone else. At least for a short period of time. Look at Career Builder or any job site and they will ALWAYS be advertizing. Also for some reason when  an inmate mops the floor....they don't put one of those yellow signs down. I almost slipped backward and could have cracked  my head. The staff is cold and hardened. Anyone would be if you have been there long enough. Stay far away from this place. You will regret it and dread coming to work. I lost my job because a co-worker went behind my back and said something to the supervisor. Yeh..... you have that too. You have to be careful what you say and keep your thoughts to yourself. Fun way to work..... when you feel like you are on a tightrope. My supervisor would leave at around 5:30 and say to me, "you know I might be back later on tonight". He would also ask me what's it my work bag. I felt like saying none of your business....but you can't. Long story short I filed a lawsuit against the company/supervisor claiming harassment and that person was dismissed. I could have taken it further and gone to court. My attorney felt I had a good case and I was given a right to sue letter. I didn't want to blow 10K on an attorney. But we could have probably worked at out of court settlement, people would have been forced to testify, and the behavior of the staff would have all come out in court. Probably would have made it into the media too.  Maybe I was placed in the wrong building. Guess I got unlucky. But the inmates as well as staff is ruthless.  They couldn't care less if your job loss causes you to lose you home, spouse etc. Luckily for me they did me favor. As I have moved on to greener pastures.
