Corporate Collection Services - CCS ALWAYS ASK FOR WRITTEN PROOF BEFORE ANYTHING!! Promised to Settle, Then Demanded More $$$! Consistently Rude, Nasty, & Harassing! Beachwood Ohio
After finding that I had debt in my credit report, I called this company myself to get everything taken care of and settled away. After being YELLED at by the first customer 'service' rep, by the name of Christopher Lawrence, I talked to his supervisor who was calm and willing to negotiate. After settling at $270 for a $400 debt, he tells me that amount is fine, he put me on hold and returned claiming he had spoken to the original holder of the account, and they agreed to that settlement. With all that taken care of, he agreed to write me a letter stating the account will be considered final and settled. Sounded good to me!
However, one week later, when I saw transaction had gone through on my debit card statements, I called back to ask where my confirmation letter is, but my calls to the supervisor, "JUSTIN," go straight to voicemail. After leaving several voicemails, I try to talk to some underlings who, AGAIN, are very rude and even THREATENING on the phone - "I'm not your BUDDY. Go ahead, take us to court!" - and are now informing me that my original payment was just HALF of what I had to pay to close my account.
Now, I've been told several times that collections agencies will resort to all kinds of dishonest and crooked means to get their money, but this kind of behavior verges on illegal. I ultimately paid a fraction of their SECOND asking amount, after getting a letter IN WRITING, and I have definitely learned a lesson from all this. I hope all of you can too.
