I am so very thankful for a website such as ripoffreport.com.  Why?  Because after nearly two months of complete silence from corporateregistries.ca here at last is something from them, posted one day after filing my complaint on ripoffreport.com no less!  Apparently they were incapable of responding to my repeated email requests for over a month as to the status of my order and when I might expect delivery of all documents, and equally incapable of picking up the phone to discuss the situation with me, and incapable of even sending good old fashioned snail-mail, anything!  They now appear to be fully capable of responding to a public complaint about their company and FINALLY providing some of the documents I had paid for, albeit in a very public manner violating not only their own stated privacy policy: (http://www.corporateregistries.ca/Privacy_policy.htm) but also potentially running afoul of Provincial and Federal privacy legislation by posting private corporate documents on an unsecure public website.  Their poorly written rebuttal above and actions of posting corporate documents online rather than simply contacting me and providing them in a professional and secure manner speaks volumes to the quality and integrity of this company wouldnt you say?  Their rebuttal also serves to demonstrate exactly the sort of communication one can expect from them poorly written and unprofessionally penned by someone for whom English is clearly not a first or even second language.

To be clear, I placed an order with corporateregistries.ca on March 1^st, 2010, and not April 1th 1th??  Really??  I paid them their service fee of $99.99+GST via Interac (bank cash transfer) on March 5th.  After that, silence.  Numerous email requests for an update as to the status of my incorporation order went unanswered for days, so I contacted the government authorized registry agent in Edmonton that corporateregistries.ca had utilized and provided my credit card details to.  It turned out they too had been getting no response from corporateregistries.ca despite repeated email requests for more details.  The forms they had received were incomplete and missing key documents.  Working with that government authorized registry agent I was able to complete and provide all of the necessary documentation and finalize the professional incorporation process within a week with no input or assistance from anyone at corporateregistries.ca!  Regardless, I still forwarded all copies of these finalized incorporation documents to corporateregistries.ca in late March in the hopes that they would actually complete the incorporation package I had paid for: (http://www.corporateregistries.ca/Alberta_incorporation_services.html.)

Yes I did request the set up of a professional corporation.  In my haste and complacency with online shopping and banking I opted to make use of an online business service as well.  Working from home and trying to get my consulting practice up and running quickly I believed this would be both cost & time effective.  Finding corporateregistries.ca in an online search I read through their site and found their About Us page indicated that they had the experience you need to make the process as smooth as possible. And, our commitment to your business doesn't end when you complete your order.  My experience with them was anything but!  Shouldnt these industry leaders in incorporation and business formation services have been the ones to review, advise, and notify the client of all of the documentation required regardless of the type of incorporation being requested? And shouldnt they have been the ones to work with the client to complete it prior to submission to the government authorized registry agent?  Isnt this why you chose to hire & pay a "professional service" rather than going down to the government registry agent and doing it all yourself?  I ended up doing both as it turned out!

If youre reading this as part of your due diligence before considering the use of this company then you are doing what I should have done!  Take a little bit of time to research the online company you are considering using.  If it smells fishy and youre getting a feeling there is something not quite right about it, then youre probably right.  Google their address, check it out on street view.  Google the company and any names they provide, check out their status with the BBB.  If they dont have one, move on.  Check out their online payment process.  Is it certified by the major card companies?  Read through their site thoroughly.  If it contains numerous grammatical and spelling errors as if it was perhaps generated by a translation program or done by someone who doesn't have a solid grasp on the language the site is targeted towards this should be a HUGE warning sign.  Finally, do the one simple thing.  Call them.  If they have a phone # listed, call it!  If the # is disconnected or is an automated answering service with a computerized voice, then ask yourself if this is really a company you want to send your money to and implicitly trust?

All businesses will get complaints, but how those businesses handle those complaints separates good business from bad business. Ripoffreport.com   How true!
