THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE David, I can assure you that NO technician did ANY work in my house at all, let alone on my computer. I refuse to be forced into paying for something that I did not know about or authorize. The problem with not paying it is, it will go on my credit report. Plus, I think the only DSL option is through QWEST. And I don't think that they are any better. Do you have any suggestions about getting this charge removed? Is there a specific department or person to talk to?

for number one Cox will not charge for a service call what so ever!! that 49.99$ should not be vaild for the 2 *YEARS* i worked for cox as a cable installer/tech/trouble shoot tec we never charged anything. if there was a problem with "OUR" equipment lines ect, ect, ect we serviced them for free. now if it was with in your computer and COX had to adjust software or settings on your computer to configure it properly for cox highspeed cable connection then yes you will be charged!! but if the service tech worked on "OUTSIDE" lines such as incoming cables from the pole or the box in back of your house thats cox's responsibility to maintaine the Equipment there will not be a charge. so if the tech serviced the lines out side it was cox at fault. 2 Options here!!! option 1, is Pay the charge and be done with it,and for the future get Everything in Writing and make the tech expalins indetail the work being done. option 2, Ditch Cox highspeed internet and get dsl. but you should have never been charged in the first place!! for something that was not your fault......
