My service was disconnected so I called to check my account and they said we had a past due bill. I asked if they showed the payment I sent them in July and they said the last payment made was June. I told them I sent the payment on 7/22/05 and it is now 8/6/05 so I can't understand how they could not have received it. I was told to contact their misapplied payment department.

I checked my bank account online and found the copy of the check they cashed on 7/27/05. I took this with me to their office on 51st ave & van buren. Sharon looked it up and discovered that when I wrote the account # on my check I was one # off.

She listed this as a misapplied payment but said we had to call back in to cox to get the credit.

Talked to a supervisor..STEVE..and he said it is my fault for being one # off and I would have to take this up with my bank.

I asked him why he did not question the fact that the account # they applied payment to did not have MY name, address, etc and why he did not use the account number on the statement submitted along with the check? He said they go by what is written on the check not the statement. I then asked what would he have done if I had not written the account # on the check at all..his reply was that he could not guarantee my payment would get posted in that event.

WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!

I had to pay this again to get my service turned on because he refused to issue a credit even after I brought the error to THEIR attention.

I have never dealt with such incompetent people before.

I'M PISSED AND THEY HAVEN'T HEARD THE LAST OF ME EITHER!!!!!!!!!!

Received a call today from a Greg with Cox Corporate Offices concerning a report I filed with the Better Business Bureau. He was very cordial and very sincere, or so I hope, in his concern for my situation. He said he would make sure I received full credit for the check I had written and in a timely manner. He gave me his direct phone number to contact him in case there were any further problems. He was also informed that I filed a report on this site Nevertheless, we shall see what happens.

In most cities in Arizona one cable company is granted exclusive rights to operate in a given area. The city has some control over the services provided. Check with the city offices and see if they have an agency to complain to. If you can file a complaint through the city it will much likely go to a higher authority than Steve or Sharon.
