I called Cox Communications two months ago to have my service downgraded because I had lost my job. No problem. They gave me basic cable for $15.00 a month. Well, a week after I downgraded I went back to work. After two months I paid off the bill completely. I called Cox Communications Sales Department to have my service restored with the digital cable, expanded channels, DVR service, and the DVR cable box. I was told by the sales person, "We have a special right now. All the channels you had before, plus the movie channels(HBO, Cinemax, etc) and it will be free for the first two months."

I said OK and connected the cable box. All the channels worked including the expanded cable channels I had before, except the movie channels. Called Cox Tech Support. They said no problem and sent a signal to the box and now all the movie channels are working. Everything is great. Turn back to the expanded channels and none of them are working.

Just to reiterate. The expanded channels were working and now they are not.

Called Cox again and this time got stuck talking to customer service. This time I am told that when I downgraded my account last time, they put a filter on the line so I wouldn't receive those channels. I ask, "Well how were they just working if there is this so called filter on the line?" No response, no answer. Then I am told that I will have to pay to have a technician come out and remove the filter AND pay to extra to have the expanded channels. I would have to wait till Monday and talk to the billing department to have them schedule the technician if I wanted it free because they had no way of know what the sales person told us. If I scheduled the technician today I would have to pay the charge.

I tell them I was told that I was told by the sales department that I would be getting all the channels just as I had before plus the movie channels free for two months. Now, I am being told I have to pay for the expanded channels plus an technician to remove a filter. The channels were working! They did something on their end to turn the channels off and now they claim it's a filter and I have to pay to have it removed. Plus pay for the channels I was just told would be free.

Does this sound like a scam to you?

Once I got off the phone, suspiciously all of the channels were turned off and the only channels that would work were 2,4,5,7,9,11, and 13. This has go to be the biggest joke. It's absolutely absurd!
