Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In 2008, I purchased a new townhome in a community in Charlotte, NC.  During my appointment with the design center, a representive from CPI Security shows up to tell me about purchasing a security system for the home.  I'm sure the builder had a special agreement with CPI Security to come out and present as the company to use.  Nevertheless, I along with everything else I chose that day in the design center, I chose CPI Security as my new home security provider.

After four years,  I decided to explore other home security protection options.  I called CPI, only to discover that I had signed a five year contract with them, and if I wanted to leave, I would have to pay $1200.00 to break the contract.  Of course, this was NEVER presented to me during the initial presentation at the design center.  If this had presented at that time, I would have never agreed to such terms.  OK, my fault for not reading the fine print and relying on the salesperson's sale pitch to sell me the system.

Here is the thing I'm MOST angry about, I became very ill duing the fourth year of the contract and had to leave my home to move in with relatives.  To CPI Security's credit, they did lower my monthly payments to half of what I was paying.  However, during the ten (10) months that I was away from my home, I did not have land line phone services.  I called CPI Security and was told by a customer service representative that my home was still being monitored even though I did not have land service, to which the system was connected to, and that I had nothing to worry about.

Of course, I knew this was not/could not be true because the security system was initial set up to be connected via land line. I was too ill to argue with anyone, so, for ten months, no monitoring and I'm still paying CPI.  I called back at the end of the five years and was told that I still had one more month left on the contract.  I then called back in the one month period and was told I would still have to pay for one additional month and that they would come pick up their equipment (the "brain") for the system.

If you decide to use this company, beware of the five year contract and be prepaired to deal with rude, lying, and deceptive employees, from the sales people to the customer service reps.
