First you say that you are a long time customer with Cricket. That obviously isn't true, considering several times you mention the word contract and Cricket is big on the No Contract, No Deposit and No Credit Check. So right off the bat, I doubt the actual validity of this claim, I am sure you were just upset and wanted to vent.
If, when YOU called customer service, the rep you talked to did change your plan, then you were informed, as an ex-employee, there are scripts that we have to read and have to get a "yes" to rather or not you authorize said change. I am also pretty sure that you were informed of the features of the new plan.
Regardless, the tech is right. They cannot put you back on a plan that is no longer active. No one can. Not even Doug Hutchison who is the CEO. I would suggest that you just go with the $35 plan that has unlimited talk, text and long distance with caller id. In this economy and considering the prices of other carriers, its still a hell of a savings.
Also remember why it is that you went to cricket to begin with. 9 out of 10 of their customers go their because: A) they can't pass a credit check; B) have had service with other carriers and never paid the bill or C) can't afford the deposits at other carriers. Cricket is a great service and although what is claimed to have happened to you may have been misfortune, although I don't think it happened the way you tell it, either stick with the new plan or just go somewhere else.

I don't believe you were a victim of poor ethics by Cricket Wireless. Legally Cricket (and every other wireless company) states that they can change the terms of your service at any time. So to lose your older, better rate plan is terrible I don't believe it violates your terms of service agreement. Unfortunately who you talked to over the phone was new and didn't realize that he couldn't go back. This is a frequent problem with every wireless company. New monthly service plans come and old ones go away. Also with some special promo rate plans (which is what that $30 a month one was) you aren't able to add features like Caller ID or Voicemail to them. To make this more confusing some parts of the country are different. (different rules and rate plans apply in different areas) It is very difficult to keep up with. What I would suggest you do is simple, go into the nearest full service center store (corporate owned) and explain the problem (politely) and if necessary ask for the manager or assistant manager. This is a good policy with any issue. Much better than the Customer Service over the phone. Honestly, they may not have the ability to get your rate plan back for you but they might have another suggestion that you would find acceptable. (Like a free month of service or some other service credit)

There is no contracts with Cricket. Its month to month. I love Cricket, finally not getting screwed. If Cricket is so bad, go to Sprint or T- Mobile.Deal with their crazy contracts, and rip of plans.
