On Sept 4, 2004 I purchased a beautiful flame point Raggamuffin cat (5 months old) from this store. He had a watery eye and when I asked about this I was told his littermate scratched him. I questioned this several times and was continually told it was nothing. His records show he was treated for infection back in May 2004 when he was about 6 weeks old. I was sold a sick cat and now the cat is going to die. I have called the owner manager of this shop and she informed me she takes no responsibilty for this. She knows that this cat has been exposed to the Corona Virus and also knows this probably came from her catery.

My vet bills now run in the $100's of dollars. She informed me that her obligation by law is only 14 days from purchase. I was sold a diffective animal. The laws of the state do not apply to this situation. I will take whatever action necessary to recover my losses and care for this cat until his death. Please, anyone who knows of this store or ventures to it be aware they are selling potentially ill animals. The heartache and anger this has caused is almost unbearable. Profits are being made from the sale of these animals. They are responsible.

Thank you for your comments. My intentions on this site is to warn others of the possibility of buying a cat that has the Corona Virus from this shop. I did ask the owner about her breeding cats and if she intended to test them for this virus and then hopefully share the results with people who purchased kittens from her catery or fix her infected breeding cats so that they will not breed again. While most cats are exposed to the corona virus if they test with an elevated FCV titer score, these cats should not be breed. She informed me when asked, she took no responsibilty for this and was sorry my cat was ill but she was not responsible for every cat illness out there. If she is truly ignorant of this potentialy deadly virus she should not be breeding these animals at all. She offered me no compensation for this not even a replacement kitten free from this virus. I know of 2 other kittens purchased from her shop. One is fighting respritory illness and the other is very healthy. My Charlie, was the runt of this litter and has a record at her vet of being treated for illness from a very early stage in life. I did not own him until he was 5 months old but she did and knew he was not well. I will continue to persue this so that others do not suffer this horrible experience. I paid for a healthy kitten. Not a sick one. Thank you so much for your support.

I am not familiar with feline illnesses. Is this something your new cat could have passed on to other cats if you had them in your home? Whether that is the case or not, I'd ignore "the 14 day requirement". Contact the District Attorney's office and advise them of the problem you have. Contact the Humane Society in your area, then contact the local media and get them involved (newspaper, television). If this business is selling sick animals, people need to be notified of the problem. I am not saying what happened to your kitten is not horrible, but it will be worse if other cats in your home or other homes could be subjected to this disease. Contact any cat rescue groups in your area and advise them of the problem so they will know what to watch for if they get any cats in rescue to foster that have come from this business. Good luck.
