Still as of 9-11-10 when at either of these two URL's

http://www.crowdspring.com/user/kat330 and http://www.crowdspring.com/user/discreetcharm

you will find the following statements:

"This is not the droid you are looking for That user is not active. Either they have yet to confirm their account, or, sadly, they have asked to be removed. If you think we've made a mistake, please let us know."

We invite anyone with an e-mail account to please send [email protected] and/or [email protected] a note letting them know they have indeed "made a mistake" in these two verifiable instances. We never "asked to be removed" from crowdSPRING (cS), and we confirmed our accounts two months ago.

In actuality, and despite having pending entries at open cS projects, these users are now "not active" purely because Kevin Malone and Mike Samson (or Kevin posing as Mike) deactivated both accounts on September 2, 2010. The only excuse for ousting kat330 was that she asked the staff questions about contradictory and dodgy activities on the cS site. And there is no excuse whatsoever for deactivating discreetcharm's account, except he is the husband of kat330 and had merely asked the staff to please answer his wife's ignored questions.

Let 'em know that a totalitarian admin. staff, coupled with an unnecessary level of secrecy surrounding on-spec creative projects, form a recipe for fraud and outright theft of intellectual property. Caveat Emptor AND Caveat Artifex!

They did basically the same thing to me. To sum it up, I made a report on here because I was unhappy with how things were going after my account was deleted. As soon as I turned over my source files, they said they were not going to pay me until I removed my report from here. I did a follow up saying we resolved things and they have yet to pay me.

My wife [kat330] had 5 writing projects pending when wrongfully ousted from crowdSPRING, 2 of which very promising for awards. Because of data gathered before deactivated, help from another active creative as her "eyes" on project updates, and a project buyer who put pressure on Mike Samson when he threatened to deny the award she'd earned, kat330 actually received a $1,000 award for a telemedicine naming project, a full month after deactivation for work performed on August 18, 2010. We have e-mails showing Samson's extortive threats.

She can now advise anyone who enters into crowdsourcing on how to protect him/herself by doing the right research ahead of time and keeping the full records of anything submitted. And still, without everything lining up between vigilance, info from inside "eyes," and a highly honorable project buyer (in this instance), we can guarantee she would never have seen a penny of the award for her work. It's so sad to consider then how many crowdsourcing creatives are being bilked for their efforts done on spec and in good faith.
